I’m overwhelming myself with girl names and so for my sanity, I’ve handed the reins to my DH if we have a girl (we find out in about a month).
He loves [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] and I’m all for it. BUT what middle name?
I have some ideas that either flow well or honor family. My worry is some are too expected. With [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f], I feel like a mid-century American name will fit the style best.
A friend of mine is a [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and I think that sounds really lovely together.
I definitely think that [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] needs a reasonable length MN, possibly longer than the name itself. It’s seems to sound good as a long, flowly, regal style name.
I don’t know why, but this just popped into my mind… [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]… it sounds so pretty to me. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if you don’t like it, it gives you an idea of what I mean by long, regal names.
[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is gorgeous MummaCat92!
Our first two have one middle name, so I’m not sure I would use two middles now, but that name absolutely flows. You inspire me to research [name_u]Royal[/name_u] names, I see your point about [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Maybe something like…
Aww. Yay! [name_f]Glad[/name_f] you like it [name_f]Inspiration[/name_f] is why we’re all here after all!
[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is definitely a winner!! It is simple, but very sweet.
I am not a massive fan of [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], but that is just personal taste. But in this case, it is not catching me. I think it clashes a little, as it comes of as a rather strong name. Whereas [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] is more sweetness and light.
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] would be my second place, after [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. It is a lovely name, but to me it is trying to steal the show. Both [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and rich, feminine names. Looking at them side by side seems a little heavy to me.
I really like [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]! I don’t normally like [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], but for some reason they sound great together! Others:
[name_f]Shosanna[/name_f] you have some stunning combinations!
[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]-[name_f]Claire[/name_f] is swoon worthy, and makes me think I could do a double middle with the hyphen.
[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] really flows @knnames. And I love the Irish charm of [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_u]Delaney[/name_u].
[name_f]Virginia[/name_f] is my grandmother’s middle name; id love to pay homage to her.
[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] flows better than [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], though I like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] slightly better than [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] as an individual name.
[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_f]Muriel[/name_f] goes REALLY well together; it’s the -een ending with the -el ending. In that same vein I can imagine…
[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] is lovely, soft and elegant, and rare! My [name_f]Sister[/name_f]-in-law was planning to call her Daughter [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] if she ever had a Girl, but she only had Sons. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] was meant to honour her Grandmother [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and I actually think [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] would be even prettier than [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! I also love the Combination [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_f]Amity[/name_f]! My other Favourites, which you and other Nameberries have suggested, are:
I love [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f], too, and especially because she honors my DH’s great aunt who was a force of life, a flapper, and the biggest presence of a room.
[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is so pretty; we’ve put [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] on our shortlist as it honors several family members at once.
[name_f]Kathlyn[/name_f] is so close to [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] @wittyusername103 but it feels like a totally different name, and I worry would lose that good association with Great Aunt [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f].
It does look more vintage than [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f], though. I still love [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] more.
