DH is still idealess but at least we have some ground rules! Help me make a list!

Well as I posted last week my husband does nothing but REJECT all my suggestions for name BUT he can never come up with any names himself!

Im going to get him to look through some babyname book soon but in the meantime at least we have come up with “rules” to find names we both like…

  1. nothing that starts with a J or G
  2. Nothing in the top 50 and preferable out of top 100
  3. Nothing that is made up!
  4. Has a nice meaning (ie. NOT [name]Kennedy[/name]…ugly head etc.)
  5. We seem to like Irish, Scottish, English and Latin (not LATINO…LATIN)
  6. I like more interesting/unusual names
  7. He prefers more traditional but not popular
  8. Goes well with DS J0sef P@tr1ck J@mes

The middle names ( there will be 2) [name]Will[/name] be some mix of the following…

Well I like a good challenge…

  • [name]Margaret[/name] (It’s almost out of the top 200. So it’s unique in the sense that your kid probably won’t come across another person their age with that name. But no so unique that your gonna constantly be arguing with people that it is a real name. Plus, I personally like the nickname [name]Maggie[/name].

  • [name]Mireille[/name] It’s a French name. It means “admirable”. It’s not in the top 1000 at all.

  • [name]Aislinn[/name]It’s an Irish name. Means [name]Dream[/name]. It’s not in the top 1000 at all. So far, I think that’s hitting all your points.

  • [name]Evangeline[/name] It’s a beautiful name meaning “Messenger of Good News”. The name isn’t in the top 100, but it is a name that comes up on message boards a lot, so I have a feeling it will start increasing in popularity.

[name]Ariadne[/name] This is one of my favourite names. The name comes from greek Mythology. It is isn’t in the top 1000 at all.

[name]Rose[/name] The name is almost in the top 300. It’s more commonly used for middle names now and day, so I think it would stand out as a first name. And its a name, everyone is gonna be familiar with. Like with the name [name]Margaret[/name], you’re not gonna have to convince anyone that it’s a real name.

[name]Moira[/name]This is a scottish version of [name]Mary[/name]. It fell out of the top 1000 in the late 60s, so it’s not common at all.

[name]Celeste[/name] It means [name]Heavenly[/name]. I believe it currently ranks in the top 400. So not common at all. I think it’s very lovely.

I think that’s a good start for now. Let me know if you want more name ideas.

[name]How[/name] about [name]Saoirse[/name].? I love it you say it Sare-sha… Or seer sha… It means freedom

@anton

I love [name]Evangeline[/name] and am currently trying to convince DH that it isnt too much name… [name]Celeste[/name] is beautiful but we have a close friend whos daughter is [name]Celeste[/name] and I know she would NOT be ok with us using it as well! lol!
I also like [name]Moira[/name] but I dont think I could have a [name]Josef[/name] (our son) and a [name]Moira[/name]… Im all for biblical but this is a bit much! lol! I also [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Maggie[/name] as a nn but not so much a [name]Margaret[/name] fan… I do however like [name]Magdalena[/name] and am considering it!

@bluesparrow
[name]Saoirse[/name] is quite close to my name… it almost sounds like someone is mispronoucing my name so i dont think i could use it :frowning:

Thanks for considering my suggestions! [name]Ailis[/name] is pronounced either (AY lis) or (AY lish). It is a French form of [name]Alice[/name]. Good luck!

[name]Bethany[/name] [name]Elise[/name] [name]Joan[/name] (352 in popularity, variant of [name]Elizabeth[/name])

[name]Paige[/name] [name]Katherine[/name] [name]Covy[/name] (107 in popularity, means assistant)

[name]Evadne[/name]
[name]Elysia[/name]
[name]Aoife[/name]
[name]Deborah[/name]
[name]Tatiana[/name]
[name]Seraphina[/name]
[name]Lenore[/name]
[name]Dorothea[/name]
