DH's Dream Name: A Hypothetical Situation.

I think as a middle name, [name]Forest[/name] works just fine.
I’m just hesitant about name dreams where the child from the dream was kind of like this big ideal.

I do really like both [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Forest[/name] and [name]Anna[/name] [name]Forest[/name], they’re sweet and [name]Forest[/name] is a pretty cool nature name in the middle.
Years ago there was a show on MTV where they’d dress people up like celebrities and have them recreate a music video and there was a girl on the episode for Lady Marmelade name [name]Forrest[/name]… I remember when that episode aired, there were a lot of posts about For(r)est on a girl.
And for what it’s worth, I can definitely see a girl named [name]Forest[/name] with the looks your husband described

I know what you mean about an ideal child in a dream being the basis for a name. I’m hesitant about it in general, but the way my husband’s eyes light up when he says it is really what sold it to me. He loves it and really feels that it’s our childs name. I don’t have it in me to say no to that.

I’ve never been one to really get into MTV, and didn’t know they had a show like that. I have a Google mission tonight!

I know what you mean about an ideal child in a dream being the basis for a name. I’m hesitant about it in general, but the way my husband’s eyes light up when he says it is really what sold it to me. He loves it really feels that it’s our childs name. I don’t have it in me to say no to that.

I totally get not being able to say no to any type of a name passion. I’m kind of in the same position, and so even if maybe it wouldn’t be your first pick, having him be so excited can definitely make a name more usable.

I honestly am slightly embarrassed I remember that [name]Forrest[/name]-on-a-girl-MTV-show anecdote, haha. Such a random reference. I can’t remember what the show was called, though.

I’d highly recommend spelling it as [name]Forest[/name] over [name]Forrest[/name] (a tribute to the Civil War general). I actually find [name]Forest[/name] and [name]Forrest[/name] to be highly masculine names (I’m Southern, so I know a lot of male Forrests), so I would agree that it is best as a mn. It’s nice to have a fn that indicates she’s female for substitute teachers, job interviews, telemarketers, etc. Moreover, if [name]Forrest[/name]/ [name]Forest[/name] ever shoots up on the boy charts, she’d have another option to fall back on. [name]Even[/name] though I’m generally opposed to using masculine names on girls, I think that this one is an exception as there’s a really cool story behind it. It’s much better than saying “I named you [name]Forest[/name], just because I thought it was funky.” I also had a dream years ago (before I even met my husband), where I saw a son and a daughter. I heard myself yell “[name]Emiliana[/name]!!!” at the girl, then woke up. So, if I ever have a daughter, she will be named [name]Emiliana[/name] (a name I don’t think I’d previously even heard). [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Forest[/name] is beautiful, and I think she’ll be happy to have a story with the name.

I don’t typically ‘do’ boy’s names on girls. This is my rare exception and that’s because of the meaning/story behind it. I really dislike the spelling [name]Forrest[/name] so that’s not an issue.

It wouldn’t be anywhere near a consideration normally. But his passion really makes [name]Forest[/name] sparkle.

I absolutely love the idea of [name]Forest[/name] nn [name]Estie[/name]… I love the thought of it upfront but its very brave and a bit if a statement so you would need to be confident to pull it off! It’s so memorable though as a first name… I i love it!!! picture a little fairy or a wood nymph with dark curly hair! It would be gorgeous in the middle too! But the nn [name]Estie[/name] would be lost then and it’s so adorable!!! If you have a boy [name]Forrest[/name] would be an awesome name too!!

I wasn’t a huge fan when I started this thread and was looking for a more negative response to back up my, “[name]Honey[/name], that’s not a girl’s name.” That hasn’t happened…at all. It’s really growing on me.

I get the wood nymph visual with the name as well! Especially given the chance that any child would most likely have DH’s “mane of lucious chocolate curls” (his words exactly).

Apart from the meaning the name now has, [name]Estie[/name] is a selling point (or is it buying point if he suggested it?). I adore [name]Essie[/name] and it could be used too. But [name]Estie[/name] just feels more intuitive.

I love it, first or middle. [name]Eliza[/name] isn’t my favorite name of all time, but [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Forest[/name] is gorgeous. So is [name]Forest[/name] [name]Eliza[/name], actually!

Fun fact, my dad dream-named me too! They had a short list for either gender, didn’t know what they were having, and my dad had a dream that they had a little girl with big blue eyes and lots of dark hair, and named her [name]Caitlin[/name]. My mom preferred the K spelling, but anyway, I was born with big blue eyes and a head full of dark hair, and they knew [name]Kaitlin[/name] was my name. I’ve always loved that story, I know your future little one would too!

I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that [name]Forest[/name] would be a first name. Yes, it’s a bit unusual but it’s easy to spell and it isn’t an uncommon word.
