Dh's top two: Beatrice and Penelope!

Ok, so you ladies are amazing, and I got awesome feedback on my very first post on Nameberry! So, first of all, thank you all for your suggestions and great ideas!

Dh and I have talked about names every day for almost a full week. His number one pick is [name]Beatrice[/name], and he’s sticking by it. That’s what he would go with, hands down. He just thinks it is beautiful and he loves [name]Dante[/name]…so you know, he sees [name]Beatrice[/name] as a heroine! Not to mention the meaning is just divine!

Coming in close second, if I can’t get totally on board with [name]Beatrice[/name], is [name]Penelope[/name]. In the past, I’ve been hung up on [name]Penny[/name] as a nn, but ya know what, I’ve decided it just doesn’t matter! [name]Penny[/name], [name]Pen[/name], [name]Penna[/name], Pensy,…they really aren’t that bad, and I wouldn’t want to try to force a nn that doesn’t seem natural, kwim? Anyway, he’s always loved [name]Penelope[/name] also.

This go around, he’s basically coming up with most of the suggestions bc I just don’t love anything. I would really love to give him his hearts desire and love [name]Beatrice[/name] like he does. I do have to say, I’ve really come around about [name]Beatrice[/name], as this time last year, I wouldn’t have even considered it.

Also, can you give me your favorite nn for [name]Beatrice[/name]?

[name]Both[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] are fine names but I’m going to have to pick [name]Beatrice[/name] this time. I’ve been seeing quite a jump in parents considering the name [name]Penelope[/name] on other boards due to the new Kardashian baby. My favourite nn for [name]Beatrice[/name] is “[name]Bee[/name]” (I guess you could use [name]Trixie[/name] too but that’s more of nn for [name]Beatrix[/name]). [name]Both[/name] names would go well with [name]Arabella[/name]'s. BTW - I think [name]Ezra[/name] [name]Lucas[/name] [name]Samuel[/name] is lovely.

Well, I love both names. [name]Penelope[/name] is in high consideration for a girl of my own and while I’d go for [name]Beatrix[/name] before [name]Beatrice[/name], it’s still a lovely, sophisticated name. I’d honestly have a hard time choosing as well!

[name]Penelope[/name] - I like [name]Penny[/name], [name]Nell[/name], [name]Poppy[/name], [name]Polly[/name] and [name]Lola[/name].

[name]Beatrice[/name] - [name]Betsy[/name] wins my heart, because it’s so precious, but [name]Bea[/name] (be-uh) and [name]Bee[/name] are cute. I’ve heard Trissy as well.

[name]Both[/name] work in the sibset equally as well.

Your husband has great taste in names. [name]Beatrice[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] are both high on my list but I’m a HUGE fan of [name]Beatrice[/name] for years. I think it’s just a gorgeous name plus I think the nn [name]Bea[/name] is sweet and adorable.

for [name]Penelope[/name] I love the nn’s [name]Penny[/name] and [name]Poppy[/name] and I’m not usually a fan of nn’s at all. They’re both great names.

Have you thought of combing them? [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name] sounds lovely.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Ezra[/name] [name]Lucas[/name] [name]Samuel[/name]! I really prefer [name]Beatrice[/name], and I thinks it sounds lovely with your other names. I like [name]Bea[/name] or [name]Bee[/name] as a nn, but there is also a sentimental fav, Beezus, which of course comes from the [name]Ramona[/name] books. I loved those. :slight_smile:

At first, I was going to say [name]Beatrice[/name], I think it goes great with [name]Arabella[/name], but the more I thought about it, so does [name]Penelope[/name]! I prefer [name]Penelope[/name]'s nicknames (I, too, am not a fan of [name]Penny[/name]! [name]Poppy[/name], [name]Nell[/name], and [name]Lola[/name]–especially [name]Lola[/name]!–are great, though.), but [name]Beatrice[/name] isn’t bad, and the meaning is great, like you said. [name]Bea[/name] is sweet, and I do like it (I have a friend nn’d [name]Bea[/name], and she loves the nn [name]Queen[/name] [name]Bea[/name]/[name]Queen[/name] [name]Bee[/name]/[name]Queenie[/name] that her friends have given her), but I’ve heard the nn [name]Tess[/name] for [name]Beatrice[/name] on here, and I have to say I love that. I’ve always been a huge [name]Tess[/name]/[name]Tessa[/name] fan. I think either [name]Tess[/name] or [name]Lola[/name] would be really sweet with [name]Arabella[/name].

Sorry I’m not more helpful, haha. I think I prefer the pairing of [name]Arabella[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] at this point, but [name]Arabella[/name] and [name]Beatrice[/name] is great, too (and if [name]Arabella[/name] goes by [name]Belle[/name]/[name]Bella[/name], how cute is [name]Bella[/name] and [name]Bea[/name]/[name]Belle[/name] and [name]Bea[/name]?).

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name], but [name]Penelope[/name] is not for me.

[name]One[/name] under used [name]Beatrice[/name] nn is [name]Beata[/name]…an unfortunate spelling but a beautiful sound- [name]Bee[/name]-etta.
I think [name]Bebe[/name] or [name]Trixie[/name] work.
also you might use a mn that you could incorporate into the nn-
[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Lee[/name] or [name]Beatrice[/name] Leonina- Bealee
[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Naomi[/name] or [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Nadine[/name]- Bean

And any general nn works! We call our baby [name]Minnie[/name] quite a bit & it has nothing to do with her name!

I shy away from [name]Penelope[/name] not only because I don’t like the sound but also because it’s the new Kardassian baby!

Well, it seems like dh is in good company with most of you! I am so encouraged by the love of [name]Beatrice[/name]!

I really like [name]Bea[/name] as in [name]Bee[/name]-ah as a nn…even Cici is super cute!

If this is the way we go though, my family is going to have a fit. I’m gearing up for all the negative comments…

Spoilt for choice! I like both [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Beatrice[/name], but I think that [name]Penelope[/name] works marginally better in your sibset. I love love love the nickname [name]Poppy[/name] for [name]Penelope[/name]! I also like [name]Nell[/name] as a nickname for [name]Penelope[/name]. That said, I also [name]LOVE[/name] the nickname [name]Bea[/name]/[name]Bee[/name]/B for [name]Beatrice[/name]! And I agree with @thelifespark - [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name] is lovely.

[name]Lori[/name]: I like the breakdown of my kids’ names! Though, I just about want to cry everytime I hear someone say [name]Quinn[/name] is unisex!!! I know it has ‘gone to the girls’, so to speak, but to me, it is all boy, and when we named him [name]Quinn[/name], it was predominately a boy name. Still makes me so sad, but we live in a very small, rural town, and he’s the only [name]Quinn[/name]. So, I’m hoping, at least around here, ppl will just assume boy when they hear [name]Quinn[/name]! I’ve never thought of [name]Blaine[/name] as unisex either, but I suppose that’s what it’s considered! Boo!!

Anyway, the way you set it up, it does make sense!

I’m going to have a very tough decision…it doesn’t help I’m totally unsure which I like better!

I vote for [name]Beatrice[/name]! I think it fits so well with your other children… so spunky and sweet! I’d call her [name]Bea[/name] pronounced “bee.” I think that’s adorable. [name]Love[/name] all of your names!

[name]Ah[/name] both are absolutely lovely!! My favorite nickname for [name]Beatrice[/name] is [name]Bea[/name]. Short and so sweet. I like [name]Penelope[/name] a little bit more. If you don’t like [name]Penny[/name], [name]Nell[/name] or [name]Nellie[/name] or [name]Poppy[/name] are super sweet nicknames for it.
