[name_f]Diamond[/name_f] was the name of my husband’s grandmother - she passed before he was born but everyone in the family adored her. Her full name was [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f], but she was affectionately called “[name_f]Dolly[/name_f]”. Another perk - my husband’s birthday is in [name_f]April[/name_f] and his birthstone is diamond, so it would be a subtle honor for him, too. ([name_u]Ruby[/name_u], our top girls’ name at the moment, honors his late father who was born in [name_u]July[/name_u] - ruby is his birthstone).
I’m sort of liking the idea of using [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] for a future girl, though it would likely be as a middle name. However, I do like [name_f]Dolly[/name_f] but DH has already vetoed it.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] is usable? Should we stick to using it as a middle name? What first name suggestions do you like with [name_f]Diamond[/name_f]?
Our last name is 7 letters, starting and ending with “o” (think city in [name_f]Florida[/name_f]).
I think [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] is usable, especially as a middle and especially given that backstory.
The problem is, it doesn’t really seem to gel with any of the names in your signature… [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] are too much jewel; [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] and [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] feel too descriptive; [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] sounds like a phrase; and [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] just feels like a little too much and a style clash.
I think you need a short, simple, streamlined first name that isn’t a noun to fit:
[name_f]Nola[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] (especially if you’re a mega Beatles fan!)
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f]
[name_f]Keira[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f]
[name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f]
[name_f]Carys[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f]
Yes, I totally agree that [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] wouldn’t work with any names in my signature (which really needs some updating!). I like all of those names, but at this point most of them are unusable for us.
I like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], but unfortunately neither are usable for various reasons. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is intriguing, though I feel like I never know exactly how to pronounce it! [name_f]Thea[/name_f] (thee-ah) [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] is super pretty!
I think [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] is usable. It’s like over names that are popular at the moment - like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] - but also like names that are coming back into style like [name_f]Dianne[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosamond[/name_f].
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] (just as you’re pronouncing it) is sweet
Thanks for the affirmation on [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f]! I sort of like the [name_m]THAY[/name_m]-ah pronunciation too. I like your suggestions of [name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] (DH once suggested [name_f]Zora[/name_f] but I like [name_f]Zara[/name_f] better) and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f].
I like the sound of [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f], but with our last name ending in “o”, are these usable? Also, [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] has been on my radar a bit. [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] - is that too old or clunky or weird?
It would be a cute as a middle name!
[name_m]How[/name_m] long is your surname? If it’s longer than two syllables then I think [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] would probably work. I prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] to [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] as [name_f]Margot[/name_f] feels more classic than [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and balances [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] out.
I love [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f]! [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] is a very sweet and underused name with the cute and modern nickname [name_u]Max[/name_u].
Our last name is 3 syllables (0rl@nd0). I’m glad to hear you like [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]! We do like [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] for a boy but have others we like as well - plus I joke that we’re only going to have girls [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] isn’t a “must use” name, so [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] could get a different middle.
THAYA (th as in THIS) is my favourite pronunciation
I’ve only ever heard [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] on boys and I’m honestly not a fan but it’s fine as a middle
