Did I hear that right?

Last weekend in my local grocery store, there was a man shopping with his two daughters, about 5 and 3. They were adorable girls, in little jeans and matching bright pink hoodies, with brunette and blond hair pulled up in sporty little ponytails. At one point the dad and older girl moved on to the next aisle, but the little blondie was too busy looking at the cereal boxes to follow. Her dad called to her from the next aisle over, and it sounded for all the world like he said, “[name]Lois[/name]!” I instantly fell in love, as [name]Lois[/name] is a name I’ve been hoping would come back. Later it dawned on me that, given the lack of creativity in my area, he probably called her “[name]Lexis[/name]” and I misheard. But I have to say, she could have brought the name [name]Lois[/name] back in style in an instant.

A few years ago I heard another father calling to his little curly-haired daughter (dressed up for a children’s Irish step-dancing performance), and it sounded like “Chella.” I’m still not sure what he really called her, but Chella would have been so perfect on her.

[name]Just[/name] wanted to share the ideas of [name]Lois[/name] and Chella…I can attest that they look absolutely adorable on little girls. Any good names you’ve heard (or misheard) lately?

I met a little [name]Viola[/name] the other day…

I think [name]Lois[/name] could come back seeing as [name]Louisa[/name] and [name]Louise[/name] are coming back. Chella doesn’t sound like a real name to me… It sounds almost itchy feeling.

My son has a little friend named [name]Phineas[/name]! He is the CUTEST thing. A big plop of curly red hair and big brown eyes. Swoon.

A girl I went to school with has a toddler niece called [name]Lois[/name], and I know another [name]Lois[/name] who would be around 8 or 9 now. The older [name]Lois[/name] I met when she was seven and actually so adorable, the name grew on me because of her.

Chella could easily be a nickname for something like [name]Michelle[/name], so you may not have heard wrong.

I happen to love [name]Lois[/name]. Along with [name]Sibyl[/name] it is high on my list for another daughter. My husband adores the name [name]Lola[/name] for a girl but I like something more formal and would push for [name]Lois[/name] ([name]Lois[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] nn [name]Lola[/name]). I think it is sweet!

I met the cutest little girl named [name]Eva[/name] through work a couple weeks ago! She was so cheerful and sweet and inquisitive, with the most adorable bright eyes and curly brown hair. I was just like, “Oh, so that’s what an [name]Eva[/name] looks like!” It pretty firmly cemented [name]Eva[/name] on my list. I’d been considering it before, but I really love it now.

It’s funny… My daughter named her first doll [name]Lois[/name]… We have no idea where she got it but think it is so cute!

I met a little [name]Margo[/name] a while back, super cute! Would love to meet a [name]Lois[/name]. Also a friend just welcomed an [name]Elisheva[/name] nn [name]Eva[/name]. There’s are somegood ones out there! On the other hand I met a girl at my ob office last week planning on naming her daughter [name]Jetta[/name]… like the car.

I heard a mother talking her maybe 7 or 8 year old daughter called [name]Betsy[/name] the other day. That made me very happy  I would be thrilled to meet a little [name]Lois[/name], how refreshing and sweet! Maybe Chella was a nn for [name]Marcella[/name] or something similar?

I’ve wondered this! I’ve even considered [name]Cella[/name] as a name, but people would pronounce it SELL-uh and I would want it to be CHELL-uh. I don’t like the spelling of Chella though, but what a pretty sound!

I know a ten-year-old [name]Eva[/name] who has long, straight, thin and wispy brown hair–in a really pretty way–and DAZZLING blue eyes. I actually met her when she was in kindergarten, and her eyes stood out even then.

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Lois[/name]. Dislike [name]Louise[/name] - not sure how that works. But [name]Lois[/name] is to die for.

[name]Lois[/name] sounds like lice to me.

I could see [name]Lois[/name] making coming back because of the strong O sound thats so popular the past couple years. I would love to meet a little [name]Lois[/name]. Not one I would consider for myself, but I would love to see it on someone elses kids.

You may be pronouncing it wrong? [name]Lois[/name] is two syllables: “LO-iss.” I could see where it would be mispronounced “loyce” if you’ve never heard it, which would sound like “lice.”

I just met an adorable, talkative, blond little girl named [name]Hannah[/name]! So cute!
