I know this topic has been posted before, but it’s one of those questions that can always get new answers! What names did you discover on the Nameberry forums or blogs that have made it onto your lists?
Several Nameberry discoveries have made it onto my list, but two in particular have become serious contenders for our first child if a girl (TTC):
[name]Zoya[/name] (variant of [name]Zoe[/name], means “life”): I had never heard this in my life until someone brought it up in the forums, and it skyrocketed to one of my top five favorite girl names upon seeing it. My near-death experience after a car accident two years ago makes the meaning of this very important to me.
[name]Cambria[/name] [name]Verity[/name]: I had never heard either name before, but noticed both being tossed around by other users on the forum. Neither one was my style. But then one night while I was lying in bed, both just popped into my mind together as a combo. I didn’t care for it, but it wouldn’t leave my mind, and after about two days of being stuck in my head it became one of my top ten favorite girl combos.
Have any of your serious contenders or just-for-fun names on your list come from Nameberry?
Absolutely. [name]Milo[/name], [name]Sylvie[/name], [name]Claire[/name], and [name]Lake[/name] are some of the names that I either heard here first or liked a lot more after seeing it around the forum.
Kind of? I was actually just thinking of how much Nameberry has shaped (perhaps not directly) my current favorites. In some cases, I just needed to see the name once or even numerous times before it grew on me. Thanks, Nameberry!
[name]Just[/name] [name]Corisande[/name] and [name]Cordelia[/name] actually. Most, if not all the others on my list are long time loves, literary choices or family names.
yes, I found the name [name]Evander[/name] & [name]Everett[/name] which im in love with, which is annoying because 3 of the top names on my lists are E names.
I have also fell in love with names I had already heard of such as [name]Theodore[/name] & [name]Jasper[/name]
I’ve discovered so many names on Nameberry, but [name]Wilhelmina[/name], [name]Marigold[/name], [name]Miranda[/name], [name]Lachlan[/name], Calvary and [name]Everard[/name] are some of my top Nameberry favorites.
Yep! Nameberry has shaped ALL of my favorites. Not sure if I found them on here or not but definitely shaped them. [name]Stella[/name], [name]Tessa[/name], [name]Cordelia[/name], [name]Arabella[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Eloise[/name] (I know I found this one on here), [name]Felicity[/name] ( found this one on here too…years ago), [name]Sebastian[/name], [name]Leo[/name], [name]Levi[/name], [name]Henry[/name]…-and many more
[name]Arianwen[/name] is the one that really sticks out for me. I know for certain that I first discovered it on here, and now it is on of my firm favourites. [name]Adelaide[/name] and [name]Isadora[/name] are ones I already knew, but I think Nameberry may have helped form my love for them.
Most definitely. I think mostly I realize I’ve been starting to consider more word names which I never thought would happen. I think mostly because any name I would choose for my (currently) imaginary babies would have to sound good in English, Spanish and [name]German[/name] and I often find that actual words are often oddly pronounced. (Downside to living in a tri-lingual home). But [name]Prosper[/name] and [name]Prudence[/name] have been a favorites of mine for years and so I think NB has just made me more secure in realizing that.
