Did you guess someone's baby name correctly?

Can I just take a minute to tell a pretty awesome story to you Berries (who I know will appreciate it)? I’ve told several people this in real life and no one is quite as excited about it as I am.

I’m a life-long name nerd, I’ve had [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name]'s books since I was 8 years old- the whole nine yards. I nannied for a family this summer with two adorable little ones, [name]Nolan[/name] (3) and [name]Ellie[/name] (1). Their mom was pregnant over the summer, due on Labor day. I spent all summer pondering what the new baby boy would be named. When it came really close I proposed a ridiculous bet to my family, just to humor me  I asked them all to make a list of 10 names they thought the new baby would be named and anyone who had his real name on the list would win $15 when he was born. They played along, to my surprise! These were my 10:

[name]Owen[/name], [name]Carson[/name], [name]Mason[/name], [name]Declan[/name], [name]Gavin[/name], [name]Evan[/name], [name]Logan[/name], [name]Reid[/name], [name]Landon[/name], [name]Quinn[/name].

While making this list, my sister was in the room, and I told her “I have SUCH a good feeling about [name]Gavin[/name]!”

And a month later, guess what the baby’s name was? [name]GAVIN[/name].

I had NO previous knowledge about what she was considering about names, we never talked about it. I guessed simply based on her other kid’s names and what I knew about their family.

[name]Just[/name] thought I’d get my 15 seconds of fame here on Nameberry, because I was pretty excited about it  regardless of how petty or trivial haha. it’s the little things…

Has anyone else had an experience like this?

Well, yeah … but it was my cousin, [name]Laura[/name], and she’s the youngest of all us cousins and none of us had been named [name]Laura[/name] (which was my great-grandmother’s name), so it wasn’t much of a surprise when her mum announced what her name would be.

The only other thing I can brag about is royal baby names.
I consider myself to be fairly good at guessing royal baby names (or at least I thought so until Crown [name]Princess[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] named her daughter [name]Estelle[/name]). I guessed [name]Prince[/name] [name]Christian[/name] of Denmark’s full name ([name]Christian[/name] [name]Valdemar[/name] [name]Henri[/name] [name]John[/name]), his younger sister [name]Isabella[/name]'s three other names in correct order ([name]Isabella[/name] [name]Henrietta[/name] [name]Ingrid[/name] Margrethe), and then I had guessed on most of their baby sister [name]Josephine[/name]'s name ([name]Josephine[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] Ivalo [name]Mathilda[/name]).

I kind of did this too! My husband’s cousin has an [name]Alexandra[/name] nn [name]Sasha[/name] & his other cousin already had an [name]Isabella[/name]…I said I bet they use [name]Victoria[/name]…and sure enough they did! I just knew long, girly, royal was their thing!

I thought [name]Anastasia[/name] could be it too though!

I think I’d have to know someone really well to be able to guess. It would help if they were into more mainstream names to narrow the field because someone that was really into being different and original could come up with something I’ve never even heard of.

I guessed once. They had a son named [name]Johannes[/name], expecting a girl I predicted a classic, biblical name, [name]Anna[/name], [name]Ruth[/name], [name]Esther[/name], [name]Elisabeth[/name]… The girl is called [name]Anna[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name]

I guessed what mn my cousin was giving his daughter. But that wasn’t really hard, it had to be from a very particular culture and this one happened to currently be the most commonly used and be a family name. So maybe that was a bit of an unfair advantage. lol.

A friend who had two boys named [name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Aiden[/name] and were expecting a girl who also would have an A name. In the back of my mind I thought they would go with something like [name]Ava[/name] [name]Grace[/name] (bith boys have filler mn’s that the parents just thought went, [name]Michael[/name] and [name]James[/name]) and I was super close…[name]Ava[/name] [name]Mae[/name]!

These are awesome! @shvibziks, I’m especially impressed by your royal guesses- crazy!

I guessed my friends babys name would be [name]Hannah[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. It was;) she always did talk about the name [name]Hannah[/name] though. But since it would be their last child’s name I thought they’d give the baby the mothers middle name and they’re realllllly trendy when it comes to everything (especially names!) so I guessed they’d throw grace in there. And they did!

A Facebook friend was between combinations of [name]Sage[/name], [name]Elena[/name], and [name]Marla[/name], and were waiting to meet her to decide. I guessed their final choice, [name]Marla[/name] [name]Sage[/name] [name]Elena[/name]. Not too impressive, but I was pretty surprised.
