What’s your experiences so far with the name Emilia - are people pronouncing it right if your based in US, spelling it right, what nicknames have you been using and middle names?

If you decided against the name what was your reasoning?

I’m in the UK so I can’t comment on the US, but people here seem to say it okay/spell it right.

I think I’ve met one or two Emilias and I don’t think they used nicknames

I have [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] high in my list. I like/love both names.

I would pair it with [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f] or similar names.

Not in the US, but in [name_m]Oz[/name_m], I like how people say [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] not [name_f]Emilya[/name_f] (or only rarely so). I like [name_f]Emmy[/name_f], [name_f]Milla[/name_f], or [name_f]Millie[/name_f] etc, the nickname I don’t especially like which I’ve heard a bit (in UK incidentally) is Meels.

Is there really a big difference in pronunciation vs [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]? I would tend to say both almost exactly the same with a -ya sound at the end rather than drawing the -ia out into 2 syllables. I live in the southern US.
