I am trying to think of some different nicknames for the name Rebecca. I really like the Rebecca, but i dont like Becky or Becca as nicknames. I am due in a couple of weeks with baby number 2, and Rebecca is on the short list, but I just cant think of any nicknames for it like.
[name_f]Ree[/name_f]
[name_f]Bee[/name_f]
[name_u]Beck[/name_u]
[name_f]Rea[/name_f]
[name_f]Reba[/name_f]
I’ve been trying to decide if [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] sort of works? Rebecca–>Reby–>Ruby?
Maybe [name_u]Rex[/name_u]
Also an E middle would make RE intials which would sound like [name_u]Ari[/name_u].
[name_m]Reb[/name_m]
[name_f]Bex[/name_f]
[name_f]Ricki[/name_f]
[name_m]Ebbie[/name_m]
The Rebecca/Rebekahs I know have gone by:
Becks
Becca/Bekah
[name_f]Reba[/name_f]
[name_f]Rivka[/name_f]
Reebi/ Reeb
Ebbi?
But a lot of people are probably going to call her that anyway just FYI.
[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] is a lovely choice, and I like it in full. The Rebeccas I know who go by a nickname are all [name_m]Bec[/name_m] or [name_f]Becca[/name_f].
I’ll suggest Riri (as in, the first syllable of REbecca, repeated).
This one is very stretchy: because [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] has the same first two consonants as [name_u]Robert[/name_u], I want to suggest [name_u]Bobbie[/name_u].
And, again, stretchy soundwise, but the letters are there: [name_u]Reece[/name_u].
Maybe Bess/Bessie? [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Rica[/name_f]
I would strongly advise against choosing [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] in that case. You can’t own nicknames.
Rebecca…
[name_m]Reb[/name_m]
Rebs
[name_f]Reba[/name_f]
Rebbie
[name_m]Ebbie[/name_m]
[name_u]Rebel[/name_u]
[name_f]Ree[/name_f]
[name_u]Rex[/name_u]
[name_u]Berry[/name_u]?
[name_u]Rae[/name_u]?
[name_u]Reece[/name_u]?
[name_f]Betty[/name_f]?
I don’t hear much about [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]. It’s sweet.
I had [name_f]Bee[/name_f] or Ebba/ [name_m]Ebbie[/name_m], or maybe [name_m]Reb[/name_m] in mind.
Congratulations on baby! [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] is pretty! It’s my sister’s name; she goes by [name_f]Becca[/name_f] almost exclusively but if she would’ve let me, I would’ve nn’d her [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] - which I think is a super sweet and unusual Nordic name (I believe). … ahh, just looked it up, [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] is basically a feminine variant of [name_m]Osborn[/name_m], in Denmark/Norway, from what I’m finding? Either way, I think it’s pretty cool (like [name_f]Ella[/name_f] but replace the L’s with B’s!). At one point I wanted to nn my sister [name_f]Reba[/name_f] too but she hated it. She has gotten Rebbie (soft “E” sort of like the first syllable of [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] and rebel) from a friend, but it doesn’t stick a ton. I think Rhea/Ria/(however you want to spell REE-ah) could work easily, too, or Bea/Bee, could work too. [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] is my favorite though; if I loved [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] enough to pass it down, I would definitely use [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] myself; I feel like she’s an underrated gem!
Good luck!
