Dilemma in the middle, Finn

We are pretty sure we are going to name our son [name]Finn[/name]. Our last name is a Mc name. My husband and I cannot decide on a middle name for the life of us. His name is [name]Michael[/name]…He likes that, I’m not sold. We also have a grandfather named [name]Merritt[/name], I like that. What do you guys think? Any other suggestions?

I like both [name]Finn[/name] [name]Michael[/name] and [name]Finn[/name] [name]Merritt[/name]–and since they both have family significance, both seem very special. I slightly prefer the sound of [name]Finn[/name] [name]Michael[/name], but [name]Finn[/name] [name]Merritt[/name] is really handsome, too. Are there any other family names you’d like to use?

Other ideas:

[name]Finn[/name] [name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Finn[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Finn[/name] [name]Julian[/name]
[name]Finn[/name] [name]Isaac[/name]
[name]Finn[/name] [name]Elliot[/name]
[name]Finn[/name] [name]Patrick[/name]
[name]Finn[/name] [name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Finn[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name]
[name]Finn[/name] [name]Zachary[/name]

Good luck!

I think [name]Finn[/name] [name]Merritt[/name] sounds pretty cool. I like it a lot.

[name]Finn[/name] [name]Walker[/name]
[name]Finn[/name] [name]Atticus[/name]
[name]Finn[/name] [name]Avery[/name]

Of your two choices, I think I like [name]Finn[/name] [name]Merritt[/name] the best. I think it has to do with all of the double letters “nn”, “rr”, and “tt”.

[name]Finn[/name] [name]Merritt[/name] sounds good and I think it’s great to use a family name. The first suggestion that popped into my mind is [name]Finn[/name] [name]Daniel[/name]. I think it sounds really handsome. I am loving [name]Finn[/name] [name]Merritt[/name] though, it’s cool sounding and such a nice way to honor your grandfather. Good luck!

We are using [name]Michael[/name] as a middle name for family name purposes (husbands family). I am glad it is something I like, and when going through tons of first names, it does sound good with nearly anything. I think [name]Finn[/name] [name]Michael[/name] sounds great. I don’t see a problem with [name]Finn[/name] [name]Merritt[/name] either, whichever you prefer would work great.

[name]Finn[/name] [name]Merritt[/name] is awesome! I love the name [name]Merritt[/name] but don’t think I’m brave enough to use it as a first name. And the double letters make it look pretty when written too.

They both sound great together. I slightly prefer [name]Finn[/name] [name]Merritt[/name], because I like honoring older generations rather than recent ones, but that’s just me. I think it might depend on your last name though. If it’s McM—, [name]Merritt[/name] for some reason seems like it would be a little too much, but I’m not sure I can describe why. If your last name has the “it” or “et” or “at” or “er” sound, [name]Merritt[/name] also may not work well. Otherwise, I think you’re good to go for either one. Great options.

I think [name]Finn[/name] [name]Michael[/name] has a better sound than [name]Finn[/name] [name]Merritt[/name] because of the flow. While it’s a great name, [name]Merritt[/name] ends more quickly, if that makes sense, because of the “tt” at the end. [name]Finn[/name] is similar; however, [name]Michael[/name] stretches out more. At the same time, Michaal may not flow with a Mc last name. We’d have to know what’s after the Mc.
