Dillian

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like this name for a girl?

Any other spellings?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Dilly[/name_f] as a nn?

This is one my Husband is really keen on …

[name_f]IMO[/name_f] it looks a little made up. I would much prefer [name_u]Dillan[/name_u] or [name_u]Dillon[/name_u]. I do think that [name_f]Dilly[/name_f] as a nickname is very cute! It reminds me of that nursery rhyme “[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]'s [name_u]Blue[/name_u]”.

Is it supposed to be pronounced with three syllables or two? Like “DILL-ee-un” or like the typical [name_u]Dillon[/name_u]/[name_u]Dylan[/name_u]?

I personally don’t like it with three syllables. I do think [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] can be cute on a girl, even though I’m not usually into boy names on girls. I’d use [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] or [name_u]Dillon[/name_u], or even maybe [name_u]Dillan[/name_u]? [name_f]Dilly[/name_f] is a cute nickname and it would be appropriate for any of those spellings.

I’m not a fan of [name_f]Dillian[/name_f], sorry. It sounds too made up and forced. I would definitely go with [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] or [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] instead.

The nickname [name_f]Dilly[/name_f] reminds me of the phrase dilly-dally, which isn’t a great association, but I imagine that term is old-fashioned enough a lot of people won’t know it anyways. (I read too many historical novels!)
