Dimity

What are you thoughts on [name_f]Dimity[/name_f]?

I’ve come upon two [name_f]Dimity[/name_f]'s myself, here in Australia, both in their early 30’s. I hear that the name may be quite restricted to Australia and also, perhaps lesser so, the UK. So I’m curious…have you heard/seen [name_f]Dimity[/name_f] in use yourself, and where? It’s definitely a name that slides under the radar, which is interesting, being that it’s a word name (fairly common nowadays) as well as its similarity to the likes of [name_f]Amity[/name_f] (without the horror association) and [name_f]Verity[/name_f].

I prefer [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m] for the boy

I think it’s one of those similar names that will be always mistaken for other names.

I have also met two in that Sort of age bracket, but I’m also from Australia.

I’m personally not a fan of the name. I think it’s the ‘dim’ syllable that puts me off.

I think it’s really nice! A bit cutesy but not too much.

I’m afraid the sound kinda reminds me of “dim witted” so I’m really not a fan. I prefer [name_f]Amity[/name_f].

I’ve never met or heard of anyone with this name (UK). I like it! I think it has a sweet sound and an appealing meaning.

Nope. I don’t like how this name sounds and as pp has said I can imagine someone asking if you’re “dim” or “dimwitted”

I’ve never heard of it!
