Do Elena and Cecily work for sisters?

The title pretty much already says it all…
I’m really loving the names [name]Elena[/name] (eh-[name]LAY[/name]-na) and [name]Cecily[/name], and I’m wondering if they would work as siblings, or if they are two totally different styles??? Would [name]Diana[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] work better for sisters? What do you think?
Looking forward to any input you can give!

[name]Elena[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] are okay as sisters, but to me they seem to be from two different worlds. [name]Cecily[/name] is very english to me, while [name]Elena[/name] is more Spanish. [name]Cecily[/name] also sounds vintage, while [name]Elena[/name] sounds more modern. I think that [name]Helena[/name] ([name]HELEN[/name]-uh) and [name]Cecily[/name] are perfect together though, because they both have the antique, British feel. [name]Diana[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] are nice together, they both have a princess-y feel (in a good way!).

I don’t like [name]Elena[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] together at all.

Suggest
[name]Alice[/name] [name]Louise[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] nn [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Catriona[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] nn [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Fiona[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] nn [name]Georgie[/name]
[name]Viola[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name], also [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Antonia[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Joanna[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Elise[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Pamela[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Polly[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name]

and yes [name]Diana[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] work

[name]Both[/name] names are lovely, but to be honest, they aren’t my favorites together… Stylistically, they’re a bit off-- [name]Cecily[/name] is delicate, vintage, and uncommon, while [name]Elena[/name] is more exotic and not quite as distinctive… [name]Diana[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] work very well together, though (even though [name]Diana[/name] is more popular than [name]Elena[/name], many other [name]El[/name]- names are popular/trendy right now…)

You can find other international variations of [name]Helen[/name] here:

([name]Eleanor[/name]/[name]Elinor[/name] and [name]Ellen[/name] are also related to [name]Helen[/name], though I didn’t see it on the list)

With [name]Cecily[/name], I can see [name]Eleanor[/name]/[name]Elinor[/name], [name]Eleonora[/name], [name]Helen[/name], [name]Helena[/name], [name]Helene[/name], and [name]Leonora[/name] working best…

Names that share a similar meaning with [name]Elena[/name]:
[name]Claire[/name] (“clear, bright, famous”)
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Clarissa[/name]
[name]Lucia[/name] (“light”)
[name]Luciana[/name]
[name]Lucilla[/name]
[name]Lucille[/name]
[name]Lucienne[/name]
[name]Lucinda[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]

I think that most of these would work well…

Good luck!

[name]Elena[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] are two of my absolute favorite names as well. I think they can work as sisters. [name]Both[/name] are feminine strong names that sound very distinct. It is more important to pick names you love then to pick ones that just “go together.” We could very well end up with a [name]Cecily[/name] and [name]Elena[/name]/[name]Elaina[/name] sibset as well if we have two girls, so you may not be the only one out there

Thanks everyone for the feedback. It’s looking like so far most of you don’t really think [name]Elena[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] are the best for sister’s names. :frowning: Not quite what I was hoping for, but I’m glad for the honesty!
leah_9, you have great taste in names! [name]Do[/name] you mind telling me some of your other favorite names? Thanks for the encouraging words about picking names that you love, not just ones that “go together”. I tend to feel the same way - although I’d love to have names that are the same style, I REALLY [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Elena[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name], even if they don’t totally “go together” and I haven’t found another name that I love as well as these two. Since I’m not pregnant yet, we still have plenty of time to figure it all out…
My top picks for daughter one and daughter two (supposing I have two daughters  ) are: [name]Elena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] [name]Diane[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Carys[/name]. But what do you think of [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Diana[/name] [name]Joy[/name], or [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Carys[/name] [name]Diane[/name]?
Thanks to each of you who gave your input!

[name]Elena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] [name]Diane[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Carys[/name] are lovely combos. I think they would be great for siblings. Oddly enough [name]Elaina[/name] [name]Diane[/name] is my top combo. [name]Diane[/name] is a family name for me. My favorite [name]Cecily[/name] combo is [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Anna[/name]. [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Anna[/name] [name]Joy[/name] would be nice too.

If you dont love anything more than [name]Elena[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] then I say you use them both! Why would you want to give your daughter a name that you dont love just to fit a theme? [name]Cecily[/name] and [name]Elena[/name] by no means clash imo.

Since we seem to have similar tastes I’ll share my list with you. They are kinda a random assortment but maybe something will catch your eye.

[name]Hope[/name] that helps!

leah_9, I can’t believe that [name]Elaina[/name] [name]Diane[/name] is one of your top combos, and that [name]Diane[/name] is a family name! [name]Diane[/name] is also a family name for me, and that’s why I want to use it. Thanks so much for sharing your list with me! We do seem to have very similar taste in names - these especially caught my eye…
