Do invented names ever work? Opinions on Aramila

I really want to use the nn [name]Mila[/name]. It’s more modern and less frilly than [name]Milly[/name]. I came up with the name Aramilla, kind of like [name]Arabella[/name], [name]Araminta[/name] or [name]Ariana[/name], but allows me to use the [name]Mila[/name] short version. I want something classy and feminine. Does it work, or am I clutching at straws and should just stick with the super popular [name]Amelia[/name] as the long name??

I don’t see why you should feel as though you couldn’t invent a name. Poets and writers have done it in the past and created names that we now think of as vintage or legit. [name]Unique[/name] spellings are one thing; a brand-new name that sounds and looks pretty is another! I like the name you created. It sounds exotic/foreign to me and very feminine. It isn’t too difficult to spell or pronounce.

Normally invented names sound bad, but yours is pretty good. I would be surprised if it isn’t already in use somewhere .

I agree with woodensandals! I love your invented name. Go for it!

I agree with the previous posters! There are some invented names that are just downright bad, but yours is actually quite pretty! Go for it!

There are many invented names that work; [name]Pamela[/name] and [name]Wendy[/name] come to mind. Aramila is very pretty name and, as mentioned previously, fits in with the other [name]Ara[/name]- names. However, if I were her aunt I would call her Armadillo as a term of endearment

I have to echo the others. This actually works. It’s very pretty! I’m guessing it would be [name]Air[/name]-a-mee-la or Are-a-mee-la. Either are lovely.

I really like your invented name, I would use it if I were you!

A quick Facebook and White Pages searches revealed a handful of ladies with this name.

Looks and sounds like a winner

Aramila is lovely! I quite like it.

Why not just go with [name]Mila[/name]? It works as a given name.

WOW I have never liked any invented names but I love yours. Genuinely, written down and said aloud, its a hit! Careful or some of us berries might pilfer it (just kidding)
Use it! Use it!
