Do these names sound too similar to be a first and middle?

My friend is having a baby girl (so excited!) and she was thinking of using [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Marlena[/name] ([name]Tilly[/name] for short). Her only concern is that [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Marlena[/name] sound quite similar. Are they too similar sounding to be a first and middle combo? And is it too much if her last name also begins with an ‘M’ (2 syllables). [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Marlena[/name] M______ ‘[name]Tilly[/name]’ - what do you think?

I think [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Marlene[/name] would have a bit better flow. I don’t think the MMM initials are too bad though. She’d be [name]Matilda[/name] M or [name]Tilly[/name] M most of the time anyway.

I am second [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Marlene[/name]! Agree MMM initials are not a big deal plus I guess it’s what your friend is going for.

Thanks guys! Her other option is [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Lucie[/name]. Which do you think sounds better - [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Marlene[/name] or [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Lucie[/name]?

I think [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Marlena[/name] is actually really fun sounding! And [name]Tilly[/name] [name]Marlena[/name] is great

[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Lucie[/name] is also really pretty, but [name]Tilly[/name] [name]Lucie[/name] sounds odd.

I like [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Lucie[/name]. But as kala_way said, [name]Tilly[/name] [name]Lucie[/name] doesn’t flow. So, I suppose it would depend on how hard she sticks to that nn.

I like the sing-songiness of [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Marlena[/name], actually.
