We almost have our twin boys named …
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it matters how many syllables one name has vs the other? We are using [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] for one twin and [name_m]Grant[/name_m] is on our list of finalists for twin 2 but someone told me she thought it would be unfair to the one syllable named baby if his brother had three syllables … I hadn’t really thought about that I felt that they were both handsome, strong names.
I don’t think it matters. I think the names are similar in style, and handsome. I think twins [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] and [name_m]Grant[/name_m] are great.
I don’t think any child, ever, would be upset if a sibling had more/less syllables than him/her. I’m not a twin, but my name is [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and my younger brother is [name_m]Timothy[/name_m]. Never did I think to myself “I guess my parents must love him two syllables more than me”.
[name_m]Grant[/name_m] and [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] are both fantastic, strong names that compliment each other well, and have similar styles, without matching/rhyming/sharing the same initial or any of those other stereotypical “twin names” characteristics. As long as you love both names, then you are good to go.
I agree. Strong, masculine names, yet “twinny” enough! Great choices!
I don’t think it is unfair or that it matters at all. Saying that having names of different lengths is unfair sort of connotes that one is superior to the other, which obviously isn’t true. I think [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] make a wonderful sibset, and if you love the names, go for it!
Thanks for the feedback makes me feel better!
I don’t mind the number of syllables too much. I did notice right away that [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] are both presidents though. I have a friend who named his twins [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and [name_u]Madison[/name_u] so maybe presidential twins are a trend!
No, they don’t need to have the same number of syllables or even be the same style. [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] and [name_m]Grant[/name_m] are handsome names, and I think great choices.
I don’t think it matters. They’ll be different people - regardless of how identical they are - so why shouldn’t they have different names? [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] and [name_m]Grant[/name_m] are great names and I think they complement each other very well. It’s a lot better than naming them [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Harry[/name_m] or other names that are much too close.
Twin names definitely don’t need to have the same number of syllables - or letters, or the same initials, or really anything in common. Ideally they sound good together (like [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and [name_m]Harrison[/name_m]), but there’s no formula for that.
Absolutely not! What a ridiculous thought.
Absolutely not. And those are great brother names!
Not at all. [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] are nice.
They’re similar in style and both surnames so I think they work together.
Definitely not! As long as you love both names, it doesn’t even matter if they match style-wise or whatever, because they’ll only be living together for a small time of their lifetime overall.
