do u think a name must be meaningful ?

hi friends,

i am going to talk about a name. name is very significant for whole life . well, i think it should be meaningfull.Like ravi (a name) in hindi language it means sun (a source of enery ,sunlight).

so, what u think a name should be meaningfull.

I think that the name should mean something to the parents who names the kid.

whether that is the meaning of the name ( like [name]Ravi[/name]-[name]Sun[/name]) or a family connection or just something of meaning to the people.

I knew of sibling who ALL gave their kids the middle name K … just the letter … it was to honor their brother who had passed away and whose name began with K.
To everyone else the letter K meant nothing but to that family it was VERY meaningful!

I think it helps. Some of the names I love have tremendous meaning, connecting to family and things that are important to me. Other names I love are just names that I love. I like how they sound, and the feel they have.
I don’t think they have to have meaning, but again, it helps.

Our childrens names have some meaning to us. We don’t think it’s essential that they do but it makes the name more personal and special [name]IMO[/name]. Some names in our children’s full names were chosen just because we liked the sound of them and the way that they ‘feel’ but at least one name in each of our children’s names has some meaning to us.

[name]Astoria[/name] [name]Lark[/name] - We had [name]Astoria[/name] as one of our main contenders because we liked the sound of the name, and the NN [name]Story[/name] was just irresistible, we just loved it. My husband then told me that he really liked the name mainly because his father is in a band and one of the first ‘bigger’ gigs that he did when he was a teen was at a venue in [name]London[/name] called The [name]London[/name] [name]Astoria[/name] so we thought the connection was pretty awesome and we knew that we had to choose that name. [name]Lark[/name] stemmed from my father’s love of the bird, and he also has painting of them around his house so we thought it would be awesome if we used it as her middle name. We gave her nursery a bird theme and had a lovely painting of a [name]Lark[/name] that my father gave me.

[name]Matteo[/name] [name]Fox[/name] - We chose [name]Matteo[/name] because we love it. I love the sound of it. We werent to font of the name [name]Matt[/name] but we didnt let that stop us and he does get nicknamed [name]Matt[/name] & [name]Teo[/name] sometimes but we actually have warmed up to the nickname [name]Matt[/name]. We sometimes call him [name]Tay[/name] but he insists on being called just [name]Matteo[/name] most of the time! [name]Fox[/name] was my [name]MIL[/name]'s maiden name and we thought it would make a pretty awesome middle name and [name]Matteo[/name] loves it.

[name]Reverie[/name] [name]Anwen[/name] - [name]Reverie[/name] was just another name that we loved! We liked that it is a word name but not one that gets used often so it still feels like a name. [name]Anwen[/name] comes from my mothers name which is [name]Anne[/name], and my DH’s Aunt (who sadly passed) who was called [name]Gwen[/name].

[name]Juniper[/name] Luelle - [name]Juniper[/name] was just a name that we really love. We didnt choose it for this reason, but my DH’s, my [name]MIL[/name]'s and my Grandmothers birthdays are all in [name]June[/name] so I thought it was a cool connection. Luelle came from the name [name]Luella[/name] which was my Grandma’s nickname as her name was [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Ellen[/name].

Woah. Sorry for my incredibly long winded answer…

I think it helps create a permanent attachment to the name you’ve chosen. I’ve hear nightmares of, “I really liked it when I chose it, but now it doesn’t sound as wonderful” it’s hard to say something like that when its not necessarily the name, but the meaning that you are in love with.
