Do we need a nickname?

I am trying to convince myself that even though our three sons have a full formal name and a everyday nickname, I can give a prospective baby boy a name that doesn’t have a nickname…but it isn’t working so what would you do?

My husband just shrugs and says he doesn’t care either way but I can’t get it out of my head!!!

I love [name]Hugo[/name] and think that [name]Teddy[/name], [name]Max[/name], [name]Gus[/name] (who gets called [name]August[/name] half the time anyway) and [name]Hugo[/name] sound really good together!

i [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Max[/name], [name]Teddy[/name] and [name]Gus[/name]! My son is [name]Max[/name], and we are having another little boy soon, and [name]Teddy[/name] and [name]Gus[/name] are both on my list! but [name]Max[/name] is just [name]Max[/name], not short for anything, so I guess I am sort of into nickname names
I think [name]Hugo[/name] goes good with your other sons… but if yorue looking for a more formal name with a nickname option, have you thought of [name]Leo[/name]? people keep telling me that [name]Max[/name] and [name]Leo[/name] are great togheter, so thought this option might work with you, as there are a few options to get to the nickname [name]Leo[/name]

good luck!

I think [name]Hugo[/name] goes perfectly with the names of your other sons! What about [name]Hugh[/name] as a nickname? I think it fits right in with [name]Max[/name], [name]Teddy[/name], and [name]Gus[/name].

Hmmm I love nickname names too…but when we had [name]Teddy[/name] I loved the name so much but it just seemed silly by itself so we went for [name]Edward[/name] nn [name]Teddy[/name] and then [name]Max[/name] came along and I just loved [name]Max[/name] and [name]Teddy[/name] together so he was just going to be [name]Max[/name] but a week before he was born my hubby’s best mate was killed in a car crash…his last name was [name]Maxwell[/name] so we went with that…and I guess [name]Gus[/name] just came naturally from [name]August[/name] but I love that people call him [name]August[/name] as well
I love [name]Leo[/name]…its a definite possibility. [name]Harrison[/name] is the other possibility…[name]Leo[/name] and [name]Harry[/name] work much better than [name]Hugo[/name] and [name]Harry[/name]!
Thanks
[name]Polly[/name]

i like [name]Harry[/name] as well! and yeah I agree with a more formal name for [name]Teddy[/name]. If i was to call my next son [name]Teddy[/name], I would also name him something else!

So you’d have [name]Edward[/name], [name]Maxwell[/name], [name]August[/name] & [name]Hugo[/name]. [name]Hugo[/name] doesn’t quite fit but it’s not terrible.

Most likely [name]Hugo[/name] will be called [name]Hugh[/name] sometimes anyway, so just make [name]Hugh[/name]/[name]Hughes[/name]/[name]Houston[/name]/[name]Hewitt[/name] his formal name

No, I think it’s fine! [name]Don[/name]'t worry about it!

Some other ideas

[name]Benjamin[/name] ([name]Ben[/name])
[name]William[/name] ([name]Will[/name])
[name]Fredrick[/name] ([name]Fred[/name])
[name]Clifford[/name] ([name]Cliff[/name])
[name]Samuel[/name] ([name]Sam[/name])
[name]Sebastian[/name] ([name]Seb[/name])
[name]Tobiah[/name] ([name]Toby[/name])

[name]Edward[/name], [name]Maxwell[/name], [name]August[/name], and [name]William[/name] is my favorite personally

But it’s just like [name]Hugo[/name] fits nn wise but with his siblings full names hes kind of the odd one out imo.

I do love [name]William[/name] too but it’s my nephews name so I can’t use it
Thanks for the suggestions… [name]Sebastian[/name] nn Bass is on my list!
