We are currently drawing a blank for baby #2.
I don’t want to have one sibling with a name that doesn’t seem to “flow” with the other.
Our first is named [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]David[/name_u].
Would you all recommend sticking to maybe word names, Italian names (Rome, Italy), letter R names in my case, or just ones you love?
Some names we are loving right now:
[name_m]Joaquin[/name_m]
[name_u]Reign[/name_u]
[name_u]Cruz[/name_u]
[name_u]Julian[/name_u]
[name_u]Leo[/name_u]
If you all can recommend which pairs nicely / middle names suggestions to these names or just any other names that you all recommend. We greatly appreciate your help!
though i love the names Roman & Reign, i don’t think you should name your child that one because of the WWE dude Roman Reigns. you’ll probably get weird looks lol. just a heads up though, if you don’t mind that then i’d say Reign Joaquin!
I made a similar post recently because as we name baby #1 we were trying to decide whether the name we pick now will limit the names we choose in the future when we have more kids. Some of the main points a lot of people hit were that it matters to some but not to others, and what is considered “matching” is subjective. Overall, my personal opinion is that you should pick names you love. Being introduced as siblings will be a very tiny part of their life compared to all the time they’ll be an individual person. If you happen to love a bunch of R names or Italian names or place names then sure go for a theme, but if you’re finding yourself feeling like you’d be settling for names you don’t really love just to fit a theme, I really don’t think that’s a good idea. But that’s just my opinion, obviously some people may disagree.
I think sibling names can “sound good together” without falling into the theme category. But above all I’d definitely pick names you love. For my own kids, I have a son with a Biblical name, a daughter with a Biblical name and I’m about to have a son with a timeless and popular classic. I think all three fall into the classic category and all three have some sounds in common but people have wondered why we’re not doing another Bible name to stay with the “theme”. The Biblical names weren’t really intentional, our son’s name we picked out while we were dating and just loved it, our daughter’s name is the name of a best friend, and our second son’s name is my dad’s name.
Definitely go with the names you love over keepi with any particular theme.
Personally I like [name_m]Roman[/name_m] & [name_u]Leo[/name_u] or [name_m]Roman[/name_m] & [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] since I prefer different ending sounds. [name_m]Roman[/name_m] and [name_u]Leo[/name_u] is a great pair!
I wouldn’t stick to a theme exactly Id just say them together like you’re calling them both and see how it feels. Go with what you love!
Agree with all that go with what you love! A lot of the time- names you love seem to organically become a “theme” if your naming style stays consistent. For me it was one syllable names… I just love short names so I guess that’s my “theme”! Good luck
Okay so [name_m]Joaquin[/name_m] is quite popular where I live so the only thing I would do is switch it out for [name_m]Joachim[/name_m]. And I would try:
[name_m]Joachim[/name_m] [name_u]Cruz[/name_u]
or
[name_m]Joachim[/name_m] [name_u]Leo[/name_u]
