I really like spunky names. I also really like [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. I just feel like I want my next baby (should it be a girl) to have a spunky name. I love spunky names. My husband says he doesn’t think [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is spunky, he thinks its frilly.
What do you guys think? What kind of vibe do you get from [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]?
The combo we really like is [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f].
I have a really strong color association with [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]–it is a green, gardenlike name, wise and gentle. Herbal, somehow–fresh and green, but with a spice. (Maybe it’s that vivid last syllable.) I’d picture a [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] as thoughtful and reflective, a contented old soul in a young body.
I see [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] as glamorous and not spunky. It’s very polished and sophisticated definitely not down in the dirt kind of girl. I see as her as dignified with maybe quiet courage. I think she could be brave and smart, but not spunky.
I think it’s a little too buttoned up and put together to be spunky.
Names like [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Sally[/name_f], [name_u]Piper[/name_u], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], [name_u]Lexi[/name_u], etc. I think the name should be less polished and have strong consonants particularly towards the ending. [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is very beautiful, but it’s a quiet elegance. It’s very polished and there’s only one strong consonant (the opening G). I would say it’s not a spunky name, I picture a little girl bookworm reading lots of books, with glasses who grows up to be a stately elegant woman who’s sort of a beautiful wallflower, never the life of the party, very elegant. Genevieve Alice is very dignified even as child. It’s a very dignified to me rather than spunky.
It isn’t a spunky name to me. I would classify it more as a fancy yet traditional name. It would go great with [name_m]Leo[/name_m], but I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f].
I know one [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] (which is basically a common french variation of [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]). She is as far from feminine & froufrou as they come. She’s a painter with a wild personality, a love of nature & a lot of quirks. She is really brave and goes after what she wants, as unconventional as that might be. She has lived in several cities across [name_f]Canada[/name_f]; Montreal, Moncton, Vancouver… a couple years ago she moved to the Yukon and now she teaches piano and does art there.
Funny note, she actually had/has a dog named Spunky! [name_u]True[/name_u] story.
I have always loved her name, and while I think the name is pretty & romantic, I don’t think it;s over-the-top girlie. In either case a name doesn’t define the person.
To me it definitely sounds sophisticated, and beautiful. But, I think it has a high spirited/spunky element to it as well. Perhaps I think this because of the girl I know with this name - she is incredibly attractive, free spirited, creative, sometimes loud.
I agree with this! [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]'s my top pick as well. Whenever I think about a little girl name [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], I think of a little lady knight, a girl who lets her imagination run wild and will run out the back door screaming, “I’m going on an adventure!” and come back with dirt stains down her dress to show me a caterpillar she “rescued” so she could help it turn into a butterfly (or a dragon ;)). She isn’t afraid to speak her mind but is also rather perceptive and gentle when the situation calls for it.
If your husband can’t be convinced, perhaps show him some of the wonderful nicknames that can be found within [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]–[name_f]Ginny[/name_f], [name_f]Evie[/name_f], [name_f]Neve[/name_f], [name_f]Vivi[/name_f]–all of which I’d classify as somewhat spunky.
For some reason I read the headline as “spooky” lol
When I heard [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] I can’t help but think “Ya-Yas” - she’s Teensy and [name_m]Jack[/name_m]'s mum and a very influential women in the Ya-Ya’s life. But I still see it as more frilly, fussy and princess like and less spunky.
I consider [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] to be classic yet wearable. I would not consider it a “spunky” name, however I do love the name. I think [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] go very together.
Thank you everyone for your replies, I really appreciate it. Especially the ones who described what kind of person they see [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] as. It really helped solidify her spot in the top 4 names.
My husband made a comment today at dinner that no matter what we chose I would second guess it for a long time because I just cannot decide. I love them all for different reasons! So thank you for your opinions!
