Do you hate this name?

Why does everyone hate on Bianca? I absolutely looooooove it. I am Canadian and my partner is Italian. We live in the UK. Here in the UK it’s hated. But in Italy and Canada is a beautiful, classic sophisticated name. I pronounce it Bee-ON-ca I find people here pronounce it Bee-ag-ca. I had twin girls and I still think and dream about this name but didn’t want to use it because it was so hated.

Is it? I didn’t know that it was!. I think there will always people who hate pur name choices. I can’t really see why people would hate [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]. It’s a pretty, sophisticated name. But you would have pronunciation issues as here it is pronounced BEE-AN-CA. (Not bee-ag-ca). Where have you been told this name is hated?

No, I don’t hate [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]. It’s not one of my favorites but it’s a perfectly good name.

I don’t really see anything very hateable about it either. It doesn’t have any of the usual reasons for a name to be really polarizing. I think it should be fine if you’d like to use it.

I’ve always loved the name [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]! She’s strong & elegant, with the adorable nicknames [name_f]Bee[/name_f] & [name_f]Bia[/name_f], and just has such a gorgeous sound all over. I pronounce it as bee-AHNK-uh (similar to how you pronounce it, I think). I would be absolutely charmed to meet a [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]!

For me I really strongly associate [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] with eastenders and her iconic character so it wouldn’t be my first choice but[name_f][/name_f] I can see the beauty in [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]. Ultimately [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] is elegant, has a pretty sound with a pan European vibe, feels timeless and I like the nickname [name_f]Bibi[/name_f].

I’ve never considered [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] a name that everybody hates! I think it has some use as being a stereotypical name choice for Italian female characters, but I wouldn’t say that makes it unusable.

I live in the US so maybe it’s different here. But I wouldn’t think it’s a hated name at all!

Personally in the USA, I think it’s associated with snobby/preppy girls and that’s where the hate comes from.

I actually love [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]! Though I’m US based and not UK. [name_f][/name_f] I pronounce it the same as you and i associate most with [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] tbh

I don’t mind [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- it’s got a distinctive sound and plenty of flair.

[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]

This is what I was about to say in terms of the UK [name_f][/name_f]- I can imagine if I mentioned it, the character would get brought up?

I went to school with a [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] who’s family were Jamaican and she always had comments about her being the ‘Jamaican Bianca’ so I think this would be a strong reference that would be referred too by millennials especially.

it’s quite harsh and a little clunky but ive met a little girl with the name and she wore it quite well. it’s one id never use but i like for others!

So I’m not sure exactly how many people would make this connection, but there is a very popular youtube/vlogger family from the US (over 12 million subscribers) and the mom has this name. Not trying to be negative, but they are extremely annoying, clickbait-y and very, very exploitative of their children, honestly some of the worst vlogger parents out there in terms of putting out embarassing content. They introduce themselves in the beginning of their videos and she says her own name in a super[name_f][/name_f] annoying way. I personally have never been able to get past that association, and it’s been years since I’ve actually watched any of their videos, and even when I did it less than regularly. Again, not sure how many people make the connection but having 12 million subscribers makes me think a lot of people do.

I honestly don’t think there’s anything objectively wrong with the name, but maybe this offers insight into why some people don’t like it.

Not at all! [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] is a lovely, refreshing name. [name_f][/name_f] I attended school with a lovely [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] years ago; I’ve always liked the name because of her. [name_f][/name_f] I have always liked [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] a lot, but it doesn’t feel like a name I would use? [name_f][/name_f] I do love the idea of knowing a [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] though!

I like it, but it would never occur to me to pronounce it the way you do. I would pronounce it the Italian way: BYANG-ka.

I have always liked [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]!

I’ve always liked [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]! Similarly with [name_f]Thalia[/name_f], I don’t know why it’s commonly disliked. It’s a beautiful name and I think it would be refreshing on a kid today.
