Do you know a Clementine?

We’re loving the name [name]Clementine[/name] more and more but aren’t keen on the nicknames [name]Clem[/name] or [name]Clemmie[/name] (especially since we have a son nnamed [name]Lenny[/name]).
Is it unreasonable to expect people to use her full name?
[name]Do[/name] you have a [name]Clementine[/name] or know one? What nicknames does she get?
Thanks!

PS I also quite like [name]Florentine[/name]. Is it a legitimate name or do you just think of the biscuit?

I like the nn [name]Emmy[/name] for a [name]Clementine[/name], I also dislike the nn [name]Clem[/name] or [name]Clemmy[/name], reminds me of clammy. Yuck. I have never met a [name]Clementine[/name] in real life however, but if the parents insisted she were [name]Clementine[/name], instead of a nn, I would call her [name]Clementine[/name], I love the name <3

As for Florentine, Biscuit? I love Florentine too, as well as Flora, and Florence!

I know two [name]Clementine[/name]'s. [name]One[/name] is in her 30’s and works in the theatre industry. We call her [name]Clem[/name] or [name]Clementine[/name], or the non related [name]Babe[/name] for the most. The other one is about four, she goes by [name]Clemmie[/name]. You can use adorable nickname [name]Tiny[/name] though, [name]Em[/name] or [name]Emmy[/name].

[name]Florentine[/name] makes me think of the Renaissance, the [name]Florentine[/name] language and then the biscuit. Florentinus is name, so I don’t see why [name]Florentine[/name] can’t be.

[name]Florentine[/name] makes me think of food. I wouldn’t recommend it.

I know one young [name]Clementine[/name]. She is about 12. Her first name is [name]Hudson[/name] but she goes by her middle. She is often called [name]Clem[/name] or [name]Clemmy[/name].

The only other [name]Clementine[/name] I “know” is the white trash deputy from an improv comedy mockumentary Tv show that used to be on Comedy Central here called [name]Reno[/name] 911! She was a sort of trashy slutty blonde and they called her [name]Clemmy[/name]. I doubt that influences many people’s impressions of the name tho.

Then there is the rainbow-headed [name]Kate[/name] [name]Winslet[/name] character in [name]Eternal[/name] [name]Sunshine[/name] of the Spotless Mind.

Other nicknames? Hmmm… That’s tough. Maybe [name]Tiny[/name], like [name]Ottilie[/name] suggested. I think [name]Minty[/name] even works but it’s a stretch. Odds are some will call her [name]Clem[/name] or [name]Clemmy[/name] at times.

I love Clemetine tho! [name]Lovely[/name] name! I doubt I’d use it with [name]Lenny[/name] tho due to the nickname thing.

Yes. I know a publishing [name]Clementine[/name]. It was ‘clem-en-teen’ though rather than the ‘tyne’ ending. She went by [name]Clemmy[/name].

I know a [name]Clementine[/name], she must be 3 or 4 years old now. She does go by clementine most of the time. Her nicknames are [name]Emmie[/name] and [name]Ina[/name] (eye-nuh), which I really like. I have heard [name]Cleo[/name] be suggested as a nn for clementine. It is a bit more of a stretch, but I think it works, and it is cute!

[name]Clementine[/name] is a favourite of mine and I’d call a [name]Clementine[/name]; [name]Emmie[/name], [name]Minnie[/name] or [name]Tiny[/name] as a nickname.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect people to call her [name]Clementine[/name], it’s not like it has a completely obvious nickname like [name]Matt[/name] is for [name]Matthew[/name].

[name]Florentine[/name] is gorgeous, as is [name]Florentina[/name] or [name]Valentina[/name].

I am so glad that you asked this question. This name is on my short list for my [name]July[/name] baby. I wondered the same things. I am leaning towards using the nickname [name]Minnie[/name] if we settle on [name]Clementine[/name]. [name]Minnie[/name] was my Great Grandmother’s name so I like that connection. In regards to [name]Florentine[/name], I think of spinach florentine which is one of my favorite things to eat.
