[name_f]Do[/name_f] you know anyone with the name [name_u]Carmi[/name_u]?
It’s a Hebrew name which means god is my vineyard
I am thinking of using it as a middle name for my boy
But worry it’s too uncommon in the US
I don’t know anyone with the name [name_u]Carmi[/name_u] or [name_u]Leander[/name_u]. But I don’t think uncommon is a bad thing.
I don’t know anyone with the name, but there is a character on the quite popular tv show The [name_u]Bear[/name_u] who is [name_u]Carmen[/name_u] “Carmy”, so that is my main association with Carmy/Carmi for a boy!
It may help others be familiar with the name too.
I only know people named [name_u]Carmen[/name_u] and [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] (both male and female). I would assume [name_u]Carmi[/name_u] was a nickname for either one of those, and would also probably assume it was a female name. However, I like it on a boy and think it’s pretty cute!
[name_f]My[/name_f] sister had a daycare teacher who was a [name_u]Carmen[/name_u] and all the kids called her Miss [name_u]Carmi[/name_u], it’s a sweet name!
I know of a [name_u]Carmi[/name_u] (never met him, but he’s a distant relative of my husband). I don’t live in the US.
[name_u]Carmi[/name_u] means just “vine” or “vineyard”, not “G*d is my vineyard” though.
I know I speak Hebrew and Arabic it means my vineyard in both languages
The god part is just implied
Ok. I prefer [name_f]Carmiel[/name_f] if that’s the meaning you’re going for though. It sounds stronger and more sophisticated. [name_u]Carmi[/name_u] feels a bit unfinished to me. That’s just my personal opinion, however
I don’t and haven’t heard of it before (I’m American), but I think it sounds really cool! Though if I didn’t know I’d probably assume it was a female name, maybe short for [name_u]Carmen[/name_u] or a stand-alone name similar to [name_f]Cammy[/name_f]. I think it would be fine as a middle though, lots of people have unusual middle names.
I really like it, I don’t know anyone with the name, but I’m surprised it’s not more popular!
No, i don’t know anyone named [name_u]Carmi[/name_u]!
It might get a few misspellings and pronunciations in the US, but I don’t think it’s too “out there” to not use
I like [name_f]Carmiel[/name_f] but feel that it might be too exotic and might get mispronounced and misspelled frequently.
