I’m a little concerned about the possibility of red hair! My husband and I both have very dark hair, but his father was a redhead! My husband’s sister’s daughter is blonde, though, but she takes after her father. I have green eyes and my husband has brown eyes. I’m expecting a dark haired, brown eyed child with pale to olivish skin tone (hard to say - I’m very pale, but my husband is more olive toned). They might have curly hair - my hair is very straight, but my husband’s is curly if he lets it grow. But who knows!
I have one boy and am expecting another, ideally I will also have a girl at some point.
[name]Leo[/name] has blue eyes and blond hair (with a reddish tinge when the sun glints off it at a certain angle), although it appears to be going a darker blond as my own did as a toddler. I started off blond and was a dark brunette by the time I was 4, although as an adult I seem to have a few strands of each colour! Some are Darker brown, others lighter, some definitely copper, the ones bleached by the sun can be quite blonde, and there are also a few pesky greys trying their luck (quickly plucked!). My eyes are dark blue.
My partner was a platinum blond child, whose hair is now a dark blond, he also has blue eyes, although his are lighter than mine and [name]Leo[/name]'s.
I think I’ll assume that future children will also have blue eyes and be blonde, maybe going darker as they grow up. I’d love for some recessive genes to make a breakthrough as there are quite a mix of colourings on both my partners side and my own.
His Family
Mum, blonde & blue eyed. Dad, Dark & blue eyed. Uncle, Dark & hazel eyed x2, Aunts, Blonde & [name]Blue[/name] eyes. Unsure about his grandparents. All go lovely golden brown when they tan. No curls.
My Family
Grandma, Dark hair & hazel eyes. Mum, Dark hair & green eyes. Aunt, light brown hair & blue eyes. Uncle, [name]Light[/name] brown hair & hazel eyes. [name]Nana[/name], [name]Auburn[/name] hair & blue eyes. Poppa, Dark hair & brown eyes. Mixed bag of skin tones, including traditional Scottish (look at the sun and instantly burn) as well as those who have a nice golden tan. A few rogue curly haired individuals in the bunch.
I’m going to be extremely surprised if my biological children don’t have curly hair. My hair is super curly; wavy-haired children I could understand, but if I produce a straight-haired child I will be flabbergasted. As far as hair color goes, I can expect brown, blond, or red. (I’m going to be thrilled if I get a redhead.) Eye color could be anything. I have a darker skin tone like my mom, but my dad and sister are both fair-skinned. It’s almost impossible to predict without a husband to contribute to the genetic mix.
I’ve always imagined my first son with blond curly hair, green eyes, and a skin tone slightly lighter than mine. We’ll see how that pans out.
It’s hard to know what my kids will look like. [name]Blue[/name] eyes are a strong possibility though. My sibs and I all have some variation on my mother’s eyes, the aforementioned blue/green/grey. She doesn’t have the gold ring, but I do and my second brother does as well (I’ve always loved his eyes, they’re striated and each layer of color is so intense…they look like fireworks. But I digress…) Mine are the most similar to my mom’s, excepting the ring. I’ve been told I have wolf eyes. My first brother has eyes that are more of a subdued, slate blue, and my sister’s are so deeply richly indigo blue that the whites of them are a milky blue color! Then you have my husband and his sibs, who all have the same bold stormy blue grey eyes. My dad’s eyes are amber, green, and red, but those are the only non-blue eyes in our two families. My husband, his parents, his grandparents, and his sibs all wear glasses. I have 20/20 vision, and non of my sibs need glasses or contacts, and my parents only need reading glasses. I’m hoping our kids get my vision, not Hubby’s. He’s blind as a bat!
We both have fairly pale skin and no freckles. We’re both of a similar height, although I’m quite tall for a girl and have been since 7th grade. As for hair, I have two dark blonde siblings and one brunette. I’m brunette myself, although my hair was white-blonde at birth and I dye it red now My brunette brother had extremely dark hair at birth…he’s the only one who lightened up over the years. My parents are both very darkly brunette. My husband and his siblings all have his mother’s hair, which she clearly gets from her mother. It’s extremely thick, sandy brown, and wildly curly. I selfishly would love to have a little curly haired daughter, as I wanted curls all my life and my hair wouldn’t curl if I stuck my finger in an electric socket! My dad’s hair is wavy and my sister had ringlets as a baby but the rest of us are stick straight.
There a few distant cases of twins on my mom’s side. My husband and I are both in sibsets equally split between boys and girls, so I imagine we’ll have a few of each. I don’t anticipate multiples. I’ve always felt my oldest will be a boy, but that’s a spiritual conviction, not genetics
Personality-wise, my husband and I are a geeky black sheep match made in heaven. Neither one of us “belong” in our traditional families. While on the one hand we expect to have children that are as offbeat, cerebral, and eclectic as we are, on the other hand I just know the universe is so going to send us a preppy blonde cheerleader. >_> Whoever they are, they will likely be the proverbial immovable object, because the only person in the world who can out-stubborn me is my husband!
Haha! I totally feel the same way about our next child. I’m positive the next one will have black hair and dark skin like my husband. We are still pretty surprised [name]Rowan[/name] turned out the way she did.
I’m only having 2 children, but I feel like I’m going to have another girl. I just don’t see a boy in my future. A boy would be cool though, mostly because it would be easier to name him, but having another girl just seems easier to me. I can reuse all of [name]Rowan[/name]'s hand me down’s, carseats, strollers, etc. I would be happy either way. If we ever had a third child (definitely not likely) I wouldn’t mind yet another girl. If our second is a girl, I’m going to start questioning whether my husband has that chromosomal abnormality where he can only produce female offspring (he has a 15 year old daughter from another relationship.)
I just know my kid(s) will be tall. Like, 6 feet for a girl, 6’2 for a boy. I’m the only one on both my side and my husband’s that got shorted (I’m 5’6). Likely blue eyes and silvery brown hair. I can also predict the face shape quite well, both sides of our family have distinct looks. So I’m always checking my names against old pictures of us to see if they “fit.”
My husband and I both have the ring too. He was told that it’s from living with cats from a young age (bacteria or something?). I have absolutely no idea if that’s true or if it’s an old wives tale, but we both have lived with cats from a young age, so we thought it was possible.
Anyway, my kids will probably be straight-haired and blonde when they’re little and turn brunette around age three, as both my husband and I did. There is a possibility of redheadedness as my grandma was a redhead and I’ve got red undertones in my hair, and husband has red in his beard. They will probably have green eyes, but I hope it’s more his seafoam-green than my forest-green. I’m hoping they get his eyes and teeth, but probably they’ll need glasses and braces like me! Skin tone is up in the air–I’m quite fair (my mom calls it the family’s “Irish skin”) while he’s more olive-toned. Height should be interesting, too. I’m 5’10" and he’s 6’0", but my brother and dad are both 6’9", so I wonder if the height will carry over or not.
The golden ring around your iris means you have the ability to talk to the dead… In case that’s something you girls are interested in doing. My sister’s got the ring as well.
both DP and I have light brown hair, mine is very straight, his is wavy, but gets curlier the longer it gets. His eyes are bluey-brown, mine are green. I’m very pale, he’s slightly more darker skin-toned.
Our 3 children
DS1 - has curly white blond hair like we both had as children, mine changed around 3, DP’s lasted until he was about 10. He has dark gray eyes, that sometimes look greenish. Very, very pale skin.
DS2 - wavy darker blond hair that lightens in the summer, blue gray eyes, with a touch of brown yellow in one. Much darker tones of white skin.
DD - super curly dark blond hair (born with black hair), blue gray eyes, skin pale, but not as pale as older brother’s.
this baby - I expect it to have blond hair, probably not white blond, blue gray eyes (though I don’t know where these have come from as no one in the family has them) and ruddier skin. [name]Hope[/name] she has curly hair and would like it if she got my green eyes.
LOL Blondapalooza!
Our family is pretty darn blonde as well…we have just a sprinkling of dark-haired family members, like my sister, but absolutely everyone has blue eyes.
We’ll see what happens…I have 23 first cousins (big Irish Catholic family), and only 4 of them are boys, whereas hubby is the youngest of 4 boys and the has almost all men for cousins. NO twins on either side, so that is a very remote possibility…
I have straight strawberry blonde hair and blue-grey eyes, hubby has dark ringlets and brown eyes. We are both relatively fair-skinned, although I am covered in freckles.
My sister’s hubby has the same coloring as my husband (and both have one brown-eyed and one blue-eyed parent), and she has brown hair and bright blue eyes. She ended up with a Blonde-haired/blue-eyed daughter, a green-eyed/red-haired daughter and a dark haired/grey-eyed daughter. I think my odds are similar, although I expect my kids might get the freckles, since I have them and she doesn’t nearly as much.
I would love to have brown-haired/green-eyes kids - that’s my favorite combo, but I will definitely love them no matter what they look like.
I am Caucasian with fair skin and have wavy light brown hair and hazel green eyes (my dad is blond and blue-eyed and my mother is dark hair and brown eyes). My husband is mixed-race (Afro-Caribbean and South-[name]East[/name] [name]Asian[/name]) with tight curly dark hair, medium-dark skin and dark brown eyes. I’ve done the morph thing, and here is what our baby could look like (this was fun!):
Hah, I did the morph thing too (it’s hilarious!) and this is apparently what me and my boyfriend’s children will look like:
(I can kind of see [name]Rosalind[/name] as the third one ;))
Okay so I don’t have any pix of my husband where he isn;t wearing glasses so these turned out weird - but Fun!
My family is one long stretch of tall, thin ectomorphs (no pun intended) with black/brown hair, blue eyes, and very fair skin. DH’s family is like this except a a little less beanpole-like, with hazel and green eyes in the mix. Without much variation between the family genetics, I imagine our kids are going to be long and skinny with dark hair, fair skin, and blue or green eyes. A bit like [name]Asa[/name] Butterfield, perhaps.
Well, as my fiance and I have been confused for siblings before on several occasions, I can pretty much guess what our children will look like by the logic of genetics.
Fair fair FAIR white skin, blue eyes, brown hair. Done. The only thing up for debate is wavy hair or curly hair.
I have brown hair, blue eyes, and a white-as-they-get complexion. My husband has very dark brown hair (some say black), brown/hazel eyes, and white/red complexion. I have been mistaken as his sister on a few occasions (I’m sure Freud would have something to say about that!) so we do have some similarities of face shape and features. I thought our kids would be ALL him especially because he and all 7 of his siblings look exactly like his mom and nothing like his dad. Our first son really is a strikingly complete clone of him other than that he has my blue eyes. Our next two actually look more like me except that our daughter has my husband’s big brown eyes (she has a blue ring on the outside that only a mother would notice) and our youngest is a blonde that will certainly darken as he gets older. Our babies have all been so different looking that I don’t know what to expect next.
As for boy/girls I am hoping that we have an even mix, but it doesn’t really matter. I come from a family of mostly boys and my husband comes from a family of mostly girls.
Well, I’m only 13 and I don’t have a boyfriend, but I love genetics so I just had to contribute.
I have curly blonde hair that was red at birth, and then turned blonde as I got older. I love eye color, so I guess I’ll explain mine a little deeper than others have lol. I have dark blue around the outside of my eyes, then the inside is the color of a stormy sea, and I have a golden/pale green circle around my iris.
My dad has exactly the same eye color as I do, and he had blonde hair till about the age of 12 when it started turning brown, it is now mousy brown littered with greys He has really thick hair. My grandmother had platinum blonde hair that turned white at age 16 and has been white ever since. My grandfather has thin blonde hair, as does my uncle.
My mother has thick red curly hair that has since dulled to a thick curly auburn. Her eyes are hazely green. My grandmother has blondish brown hair and pretty sapphire blue eyes. I have no idea what my real grandfather looks like, I met him when I was 2 and never seen him since, but I think he has dark brown hair. Eh, I like my stepgrandfather more anyways My uncle from my grandmother’s second marriage has rich chocolate brown hair and hazel/brown eyes. My aunt from my grandmother’s second marriage has straight blonde hair and brown eyes.
Everyone on each side is very pale. I guess it’s because half of them live in [name]England[/name] (my mother was born and raised in Newcastle) but who knows. You would hope my dad’s side out in Kentucky would get some kind of sun but it seems not
I expect my children will all be fairly ‘normal sized’ (5’4-5’8 ish at my calculations) for my family, and I hope i’ll have more boys than girls but who knows. It’s pretty evenly distributed in my family, considering how small it is. My uncle on my dads side has no kids and is not married, but my grandmother miscarried another boy before she had him, so boys run on that side, and my mum’s mother had one boy and two girls, so who knows.
Depends on my future husband’s genetics, but if I was just choosing from my genetics, I would say I’ll either have children with blonde, brown, or red hair. There is no one in my family with black hair, and I think brown is probably a stretch, but then again depends on my husband. I also think they’ll probably all have green or blue eyes, considering i have alleles for those two colors.
[name]Ottilie[/name], interesting. Where did you hear that?
