I like [name_m]Dermot[/name_m] and Cadfael for a person, although admittedly Cadfael probably isn’t the best idea outside of [name_m]Wales[/name_m]…

Is [name_m]Pompey[/name_m] said like Pompeii? If so that would be pretty cool. I like the sound of Pompeii, but it was such a tragic event.

I like [name_u]Chesley[/name_u], and my friend has a son called this so the spelling [name_f]Chessley[/name_f] does look slightly odd to me. I kind of like [name_m]Dermot[/name_m] too, which I think is definitely usable. Like you mentioned in your post, I do reckon that the names on this list would make cool names for a pet!

I voted for Pompeye. And I know three men aged 45+ named [name_m]Dermot[/name_m], so that one is definitely used.

I like [name_m]Moab[/name_m].

I voted for Cadfael. I had a great teacher whose last name was [name_m]Nesbit[/name_m], but I can’t say it makes an appealing first.

I like [name_m]Nesbit[/name_m]. Since it’s a surname, I can see it being used as a fn.
There’s an actor named [name_m]Dermot[/name_m] Mulroney so that name doesn’t seem so odd.
I don’t like [name_m]Mungo[/name_m] but I had a few ancestors named [name_m]Mingo[/name_m].

I think [name_m]Dermot[/name_m] is the most usable. [name_m]Mungo[/name_m] reminds me of mongrel and [name_m]Pompey[/name_m] of pompous. I have a soft spot for Cadfael because I remember watching the wonderful actor Sir [name_m]Derek[/name_m] [name_m]Jacobi[/name_m] play the crime solving monk in the “Cadfael” series. I love period dramas and mysteries so I really loved that show!

[name_m]Dermot[/name_m] is definitely usable, but I suppose it’s far more familiar over here. Mr O’[name_m]Leary[/name_m] is a great advertisement for it. I’ve known a couple of Mungos so, although it’s a bit odd, it appears usable. And Cadfael’s nice but it’ll get mispronounced a lot.

As for the others, they’re too weird for me. I dislike Ches- names and surnames, [name_m]Tancred[/name_m] looks too much like a place my family lived and [name_m]Pompey[/name_m] is a football team.

Cadwallader and Cadfael both sound quite cool to me. Others are way too strange for my liking, although I don’t hate any of them. I agree with others, Dermot is the most usable (for a baby). Others would be nice as middle names or on pets.

I like [name_m]Dermot[/name_m], I don’t think it’s an oddity, I’ve known four.

Sorry, not my style.

I want to live where you live!

[name_f]Chelsey[/name_f] and [name_m]Dermot[/name_m] are fine names. The rest are a tad bizarre.
