Do you like your name?

[name_f]My[/name_f] name is a super-popular name from the 90’s, and I grew up with several girls in my class with the same name.
I’ve gone through periods where I haven’t liked my name that much, and periods where I did like it. The times I didn’t like it was usually when I shared my name with one of the “popular girls” in my class. I always wished that I had a more unique name, one that better represented my personality.
I’ve been told that I look like a [name_u]Madison[/name_u].
If I were to pick my name, I’d probably pick [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], since that is my favorite…but I will definitely be using it for my future daughter!

Yes! I love being [name_m]Eric[/name_m] because it can conjure up images of just about any American guy. It’s well-known, has a good meaning, established history. I also prefer the [name_u]French[/name_u] vibe of [name_m]Eric[/name_m] to the Scandinavian of [name_m]Erik[/name_m].

I do not like my name. Never have. I’ve gotten more “okay” with it over the years, but I still don’t care for it. It’s incredibly unique and it’s a pain to introduce myself to people. I don’t like being called it, hearing people say it. I was very seriously considering changing my name for a few years (the name I picked was [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], but would’ve ended up going with was [name_f]Anna[/name_f] -birth name-), but decided against it because it would’ve hurt my mom too much.

I’ve always felt neutral about my name.
I did always like that it was too short to really get a nickname, I think theres something really nice about being called by my full name for some reason
(although, I do sometimes get [name_f]Gracie[/name_f], but only by family and close friends)
Im aware that [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is considered popular, I do know quite a few, but I have always been the only [name_f]Grace[/name_f] in my class/year level, so I’ve never wished it was more unique or anything.

I really like my name Megan! I think as far as 80s/90s names go, it’s quite pretty! I don’t like [name_f]Meg[/name_f], but have never really had issues with people calling me that. [name_f]My[/name_f] family nickname is [name_f]May[/name_f], which I love!

I used to hate it. Like, really hate it. I went by another name for many years. It’s grown on me. It is reflective of me and my mother’s love for space, and I’ve never met someone with the same name as me.

I hated my name when I was younger. The only other [name_f]Leanne[/name_f] I knew was my classmate’s mum, and I’ve still never met another [name_f]Leanne[/name_f] that’s my age. It was also constantly misheard as [name_f]Leah[/name_f] to the point where I would just let people think my name was [name_f]Leah[/name_f].

I’ve since had a conversation with my mum about my name, why she chose it & all the emotions she felt when she was giving me my name, and I feel much more connected to it and I do now like it.

With my future children, I’d like to have a conversation with them about their names & where they come from early on, and hopefully, even if their names are unusual or misheard or misspelled, they’ll still feel connected to them and a fondness for them. I hope.

I’ve always thought my name was quite unimaginative and basic. And Christmassy. But I never considered changing it or going by my middle name (which I appreciate much more as a fan of a certain [name_f]Dolly[/name_f] [name_m]Parton[/name_m] song). I guess I’ve just always been ambivalent.

But it’s the name my mother gave me, so it’s [name_u]Holly[/name_u] I’ll remain.

Um, yeah, sure I do. It’s kind of popular, and people are constantly mispronouncing it, but I still like it. It feels like me.

No. I have a [name_u]Madison[/name_u]-[name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]-[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]-era name that fits with the trend, but isn’t too common (though I am one of three at my school). It also has a lame meaning. I want to be [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f].

I am a [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. I do like my name but I don’t like how popular it is.

No. [name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Trinity[/name_f] and I hate the -ity ending. It just sounds so cringey to me for some reason. I go by Trin almost all the time.

I hate my first name but love my middle name, [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] (lee-nah not line-ah). I genuinely cannot picture myself having a name other than that.

I am not a big fan of the nicknames as I feel it doesn’t do any justice to the full name. People pronounce it like [name_u]North[/name_u]/South [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] and the jokes about the state get old but I have just coped with it.

My name is [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], it’s okay, but I sometimes wish I had a more interesting name🙂

I’ve always loved my name. Growing up, everyone would tell me how pretty my name was - it’s a lovely compliment to receive. I’m sad that it’s become much better known (and more often mispronounced) since the Disney princess, as I don’t receive nearly as many compliments.

I like my name, [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], and it offers a lot of nicknames. I seriously answer to [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_u]Indie[/name_u] (my middle name is [name_u]Indigo[/name_u])… I most commonly go by [name_f]Belle[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], but my older brother calls me [name_u]Indie[/name_u].

I hate my birthname with a passion. In [name_f]April[/name_f] 1981 I changed it to the name of someone I greatly admire.
