Do you love your middle name?

If you have a middle name, how much do you like it? How was your middle name chosen? Are you ever called by it? [name_m]Just[/name_m] curious!

I have a super popular middle name but I love it and wouldn’t trade it for any other name.

I have a very common, classic middle name. Its the same as my mother’s middle name which I think is why they chose it for me. I like it ok. Mostly I appreciate the connection to my mom. No one ever uses it.

My middle name is okay. I don’t love or hate it; really, I don’t feel much attachment towards it. Technically, it’s an honor name after both of my grandmothers but it has come up in conversation all of one time and I actually didn’t even make the connection until I was at least 10 haha. The meaning just wasn’t really important to anyone, it was a last minute change that my parents made.

I’ve actually considered changing my middle name, and I plan to use a different middle as I start to publish some of my writing. For right now, it’s a change in my head. I don’t think anyone in my family will care at all.

I don’t mind my middle. I don’t love it as much as my first but I don’t mind it. [name_f]My[/name_f] middle name is [name_f]Rya[/name_f], pron. RYE-uh. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom picked it after a family friend named [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]. It gets mispronounced a lot as [name_m]Ryu[/name_m] or [name_f]Rhea[/name_f] (when it’s pronounced REE-uh) but correcting people has never been a problem for me because people mishear my first name all the time. I’m not really called by it unless I get in trouble  (which thankfully never happens). One day I hope to add a second middle for myself, don’t know what I’d add, but one day I want to.

It’s okay. Would not have been my choice. I don’t have any issue with how it was chosen. I am not called by it.

My middle name is a family name, and I actually think it flows quite well with my first. I don’t usually go by it; some people call me by my first and middle initial, but other than that, it’s not really mentioned. I don’t really mind it.

My middle name was picked for flow and flow alone. Very, very common - over half my group of friends in school had the same middle as me. Is what it is.

[name_f]My[/name_f] middle name is an extremely common “filler” middle name, but I love it! It’s popular for a reason! It goes really well with my first name. ([name_m]Just[/name_m] in general, I prefer my middle name to [name_f]Megan[/name_f]. I always have, even when I was little I wished it was my first name.) I never go by my middle.

My middle name is [name_u]Lee[/name_u], and I really feel completely neutral on it. It’s a family name, and is also the middle name of my mom’s late best friend, so I quite like the significance of it, but it just feels kinda “meh” to me otherwise. It’s fine, no one uses it, and it’s really just like a mediocre syllable of my name to me.

I have a singular middle name, [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] dad likes cars, so he wanted to name me after the car brand [name_u]Lotus[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. I like it because he named me after something else he loves, and because it’s not an embarrassingly out-there car name.
I go by my middle name in public and I much prefer it to my first name.

My middle names are [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f]. I love them. I never get called by them but it’s just fun knowing I have such quirky middles on my légal documents! As for how my parents came up with them, i’m not 100% sure but I think I was just going to be [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] but it didm’t flow right with my last name so they added [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f] (I was born on a [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f]). It’s kind of funny because my siblings - who are all younger than me - have pretty traditional names compared to me.

I have 2 middles, [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f], and I really like them! They’re after family members on each side and they’re a lot more popular names than my actual first name, but I think that’s quite nice in case I hadn’t liked my first. No one calls me by them, but I do use one of them in social media handles instead of a surname or something. It does make my full name a bit of a mouthful since there’s a lot of syllables going on but I don’t mind that at all

My middle name [name_f]Ida[/name_f] comes actually before my first name (that’s how we do it in [name_u]Sweden[/name_u] most times). [name_f]Ida[/name_f] is a family name and I love it. Short, sweet and spunky. [name_f]My[/name_f] brother and his wife named their second daughter [name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Stella[/name_f] Minou ([name_f]Stella[/name_f] being her “first name”). I have never been called [name_f]Ida[/name_f] and never will. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom was thinking about doing hyphened names for me and my siblings but when naming my older brother she decided against it and we all escaped with just one first name.

My middle name is [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and I love it -it’s so elegant and pretty. I don’t get called by it.

Originally,[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] was going to be my first name but then two other parents on the maternity ward called their babies [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]/Ellie and it put my mum off so she decided to use [name_f]Grace[/name_f] instead. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] was inspired by a woman my parents worked with

So my middle name is one of the classic “filler” middles, and it would not have been my choice. But my mom chose it after her sister (who has the same mn), so I can appreciate it for that reason. I never go by my mn on its own, but some people in my family do call me by my first and middle together sometimes for whatever reason – particularly my grandmother who does it most often. Anyway, I do sometimes wish that my Mom had either gone for the original mn she was going to give me or given me my mn as a fn, because I do like my mn much better as a first.

My legal middle name is after my mother, although she says she never realized the connection (it’s almost the same name ) I have always disliked its sound. I’ve never used it.

My mn is a very popular name among other girls my age, and one of them is not a very nice person, so if someone asks what my middle name, I’ll say it, then they’ll be like, “Oh.” [name_f]My[/name_f] parents chose it solely for flow, but my full name does sound nice together.

My middle name is [name_f]Susan[/name_f] after my Great Aunt who never had children. I don’t have any particularly strong feelings about it but I like how much it means to her. I’ve never gone by it but my aunt has always referred to me as a combo of my first and middle name just because she loves that I’m named after her.
