Those were my top two choices for our boy’s name before we found out if baby was a boy or girl.
We went with [name_m]Asher[/name_m] because we thought it sounded better with our middle name selection, which is a family name that wasn’t going to change.
But also, for us… it came down to nicknames. I prefer [name_u]Ash[/name_u] over [name_m]Archie[/name_m]. I cannot stand the nn [name_m]Archie[/name_m], just not my style at all.
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] also fit with our older children’s names, in style and just sound over [name_m]Archer[/name_m].
I do love all the combos you have listed, though. Tough choice!
I’ve never been a fan of [name_m]Asher[/name_m], its nice just not my style, but [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is very handsome
[name_m]Asher[/name_m]'s Biblical history trumps [name_m]Archer[/name_m] the occupational/surname for me. [name_m]Asher[/name_m] is an old name that sounds contemporary. [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is a trendy name that may sound “old” soon enough.
I agree with [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] - however, I do like [name_m]Archer[/name_m] for the nn [name_m]Arch[/name_m].
[name_m]Archer[/name_m]. [name_m]Asher[/name_m] irritates me.
Hey, thanks for the shout out! I don’t even know how to vote, I really like both. [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is the one that I would be more likely to use, but I love them equally for someone else. I like [name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_m]Boone[/name_m] more than [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]Boone[/name_m], but I love [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]Liam[/name_m]. So I guess if you’re going to stick with [name_m]Boone[/name_m], my vote would be for [name_m]Asher[/name_m]. That combo just feels right to me.
[name_m]Archer[/name_m] sounds sharp and debonair.
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] sounds like a Bible carrying farm boy.
Plus [name_m]Archie[/name_m] is a nicer nickname than [name_u]Ash[/name_u].
Thank you, all.
I do not think a nickname would be used. My son has never gone by a nickname, we did use a couple pet names when he was little.
I really love both! My nephew is [name_m]Archer[/name_m] (arch is a good nn if you don’t like [name_m]Archie[/name_m]), and [name_m]Asher[/name_m] wouldn’t work with our last name so both are off limits for us.
I love both! But I prefer [name_m]Asher[/name_m] because of nn [name_u]Ash[/name_u] and the Biblical connection.
This is a toughie! I also love both and each of them has been in my top five at one point or another. Currently [name_u]August[/name_u] is my #1 A name for a boy but before that it was [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. The only reason I didn’t have [name_m]Asher[/name_m] as #1 was because a friend of a friend used it who we see maybe once or twice a year. Now that he is 2 or 3 and will likely be 5 or 6 by the time we have children, I think I’d be able to use [name_m]Asher[/name_m]. I think [name_m]Asher[/name_m] would trump [name_m]Archer[/name_m] and maybe even [name_u]August[/name_u] for me. So I guess I’d have to pick [name_m]Asher[/name_m], I love your combo of [name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_m]Boone[/name_m] btw. And I love [name_m]Asher[/name_m] with [name_m]Liam[/name_m] - the two go very well together.
[name_m]Archer[/name_m] because [name_m]Asher[/name_m] is so overused these days. I’m not sure why it became so popular over the past two years (although I think it was predicted to be in the top 10 in 2015 by Freakonomics). I had the name picked out for YEARS but am only due with #1 next week and it unfortunately got too popular in the interim. I finally gave up on the name after a good friend from college used it - making her the fourth friend who has used it this year alone! It all depends on how comfortable you are with how popular the name will be. [name_m]Both[/name_m] are great names (and I still might use [name_m]Asher[/name_m] as a middle) so you really can’t go wrong either way.
I really like [name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_m]Boone[/name_m].
I love the name [name_u]Ash[/name_u] on its own, but [name_m]Asher[/name_m] has been ruined for me by a little stinker at my preschool. Between the two, I prefer [name_m]Archer[/name_m].
I like [name_m]Asher[/name_m] in other languages, but in English it sounds an awful lot like “someone who ashes,” the issue with that being that you can’t “ash” something. [name_m]Archer[/name_m] just sounds so dashing to me, even though I tend not to like occupational names.
I agree with this. Although, [name_m]Asher[/name_m] is very popular where I live and I have yet to know an [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. Also, I wonder if people would ask if you are into archery. Our family is, so maybe that’s why I’m thinking it.
Thank you, all.
We keep going back to [name_m]Asher[/name_m]. I think we are just attached to [name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_m]Boone[/name_m] as a whole already. We can not even picture [name_m]Asher[/name_m] with a different middle name.
[name_m]Archer[/name_m] all the way. I find [name_m]Asher[/name_m] sounds really stuffy and pretentious to me. While [name_m]Archer[/name_m] sounds way cooler! I also adore the nickname [name_m]Archie[/name_m] though!
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_m]Boone[/name_m] is a nice combo, if you’re already attached to it then I think you’ve found your winner! Congrats!
