I think [name_u]Frost[/name_u] to honour someone born in [name_u]December[/name_u] is a bit tenuous, to be honest. I would understand if it was a last name from your family history, but it sounds more like you just like the name [name_u]Frost[/name_u] rather than you chose it because your grandma was born in [name_u]December[/name_u]. Which is totally fine.
So choose whichever you like best. However, if your goal is to specifically honour your grandma, sounds like [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] is probably more meaningful.
Based solely on aesthetics, I prefer [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_u]Frost[/name_u]. [name_u]Frost[/name_u] is a very intriguing middle name choice, but using [name_u]Frost[/name_u] to honor someone born in [name_u]December[/name_u] is a massive stretch.
[name_m]Bennet[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] is lovelier and has the family connection .
I agree…
Thank you, everyone.
As to [name_u]Frost[/name_u]. I do not think it is a stretch at all. The majority of my extended family spent most of our lives in a state that was cold, snowy, and frosty in the winter. [name_f]My[/name_f] grandma was also a school teacher and loved poetry, thus [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_u]Frost[/name_u]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] [name_u]Frost[/name_u] and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] mean a lot. We do not know which one feels more special.
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] would be my choice. I love the idea of [name_u]Frost[/name_u] as a middle name, but I think [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] sounds better.
Also, [name_u]Frost[/name_u] may not be a stretch to you (and I see where you got the idea, and I think it’s lovely) but it obviously seems like a stretch to others - do you mind explaining all of that to people if/when they ask? Would you like to explain a story like that (“my extended family is from Wisconsin, which gets cold, and my grandmother was born in [name_u]December[/name_u], which is cold and snowy, and she also loved poetry, and [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_u]Frost[/name_u] was a poet”) about your own name?
I don’t know what the honor story is with [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], but since it sounds like a last name, it seems like less of a stretch as an honor name, and “it honors my grandma” would probably suffice as an explanation, since most people would probably assume it was a surname. Of course, the story for that one could be just as elaborate, but it doesn’t seem as complicated when you first hear it, which is why I think it might be an easier choice in that sense - not better, just easier.
Not crazy about either middle, I prefer [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] of the two. I love [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] (my sons name)!
