Do you see Arden as more masculine or feminine?

It is a unisex name, for sure. I first heard it on a girl and imagined someday naming my daughter Arden. Then I sort of fell out of love with it. Over a decade later, we are expecting our second son and I have fallen back in love with it, but for a boy now. But… my friend nannied for a little girl named Arden. I also saw a grown man in his twenties named Arden and it was more of what I imagined in my head when hearing the name.

I’m conflicted. I’m usually not one for unisex names, but to me it looks and sounds very masculine.

If you had to name a child Arden, would you choose a son or a daughter?

I see it as completely unisex, but personal associations with the name make me prefer it for a girl.

I can picture [name_u]Arden[/name_u] on a girl or boy. Like Youssarin, though, because of personal associations I prefer it for a girl.

It is unisex however due to the harder sounds I prefer it for a boy.

Yes, [name_u]Arden[/name_u] sounds like a little boy IMO

I always think of [name_u]Arden[/name_u] as a boys name because to me it sounds like [name_u]Artie[/name_u] and [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] which are boys names!

Unisex to me, and I’d use it on either, but if I had to vote, girl, purely because I slightly prefer [name_u]Auden[/name_u] for a boy, so I’d have [name_u]Arden[/name_u] on my girls list and [name_u]Auden[/name_u] on my boys list, if I was made to choose :person_shrugging:

it’s definitely got a versatile sound, but i’ve always thought of it as more of a girls name !! i do love soft arden for a boy, but if i heard of one, i’d definitely think fem first.

Female. I knew an [name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]

[name_u]Arden[/name_u] strikes me as a truly versatile and gender-neutral name, and I think it’s a wonderful choice. I voted girl but I could easily see it on a boy too.

I’d think girl but would not be surprised at all if it was a boy.

[name_f]My[/name_f] initial thought is girl just because that’s what I’ve always seen it referred to as. It’s no more girly than [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] or [name_u]Austin[/name_u] though and I can definitely see it on a boy. And I prefer [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] for a girl anyway (that’s my daughter’s name ).

I think it can totally work on a boy but it does lean more feminine to me!

I automatically think girl but would be happily surprised to hear it for a boy!

I see it as masculine-leaning unisex.
