So I’ve been booked in for my caesarean on the 3rd [name_u]February[/name_u] with everything going to plan my baby will be born on the 3rd eek super exciting. Anyways of course naming her has been a huge deal as a name nerd bordering on name addict I’ve been obsessing. Anyways I’m certain her first name will be [name_f]Lilia[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] is really pretty but do you think the name will date?
I am concerned that [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] could be considered trendy and therefore will date? [name_u]Or[/name_u] am I being silly just feeling uncertain because time is marching on? I was even over thinking nicknames for [name_f]Lilia[/name_f]!
Anyways thank you so much you guys have been absolutely amazing so it’s truly appreciated your continuous help!
I can’t see it dating! It ticks the boxes for feminine, pretty, flowy, the nickname [name_f]Lily[/name_f] which probably won’t date in our lifetime. I think the like of [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is more like to date than [name_f]Lilia[/name_f]. Positive wishes for you!
I don’t think [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] will date. It’s familiar sounding -like [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] or [name_f]Lily[/name_f] - so I don’t think it will feel trendy
Right now the [name_f]Lily[/name_f] names are very in style. I think they will go out of style in 10 years or so, but I wouldn’t call that “dating” exactly, just becoming less used
@Kipperbo1 so do you think Lily names as they decline in popularity be a bit like Lisa in a way? Really popular at the time then will decline & decline and become dated? Like some would say Lisa is dated.
I don’t think [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] is popular enough to become a dated name. At least not in the UK. It’s never been in the top 100. The names we tend to think of as being dated (e.g. [name_f]Sharon[/name_f] or [name_f]Leanne[/name_f]) were very popular in their time.
They could be, but [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] may or may not be grouped in with them, it’s hard to say. I think [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] will be like [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] eventually, but [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] doesn’t have their popularity. It could be like how [name_f]Angela[/name_f] dated and therefore the less popular [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] and [name_f]Angelique[/name_f] dated with it, or it could be like how [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] dated but [name_f]Elisa[/name_f] still seems fresh. I think [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] is an underused gem though, and I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Names that date come back in style eventually!
@choupette thank you honestly that I was thinking especially living in [name_f]England[/name_f] I didn’t think the name could date but I’m concerned because of the popularity of general [name_f]Lily[/name_f] names but then I’m not sure how popular general [name_f]Lily[/name_f] names are as personally I only know one [name_f]Lily[/name_f] aged 10 and her name is [name_f]Lily[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f] so not just [name_f]Lily[/name_f] if that makes sense.
@Kipperbo1 that’s true but [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is popular in the U.K. it’s in the top 10 but [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] is in the 400s
over here so not in use
I see what you mean. I can see [name_f]Lily[/name_f] becoming dated, but I don’t think the other variants are popular enough to be tied to the 2010s/2020s era. Kind of like how [name_u]Julie[/name_u] is considered dated, but [name_f]Julia[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] / [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] still get a lot of praise.
I doubt [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] would date. It’s not popular + new to popularity like, say, [name_u]Harper[/name_u] or [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. I think it’s pretty timeless.
Ahhh the 3rd is coming up soon!! Eeee how exciting So happy for you!
I don’t think [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] will age poorly at all. It’s so beautiful and fresh. I truly consider all the [name_f]Lily[/name_f] variants to have a classic/timeless feel to them
@Kipperbo1 ah [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] isn’t as popular in the U.K. shes #310 so maybe that’ll make a difference too [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] not appearing dated in the future and @choupette that association with [name_u]Julie[/name_u] and [name_f]Julia[/name_f]/Juliet is really reassuring thank you!
@Paxramena thank you the fact that you consider the name timeless makes me feel relieved about the name as I just don’t want a trendy name. @skylerros thank you for the feedback.
@rhodes2nowhere thank you honestly it’s so exciting and nerve racking at the same time! Yay thank you for the positivity regarding [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] it’s making me feel more certain on her name.
