Do you think Lisbeth/Lizbeth or Lilibeth are usable?

I absolutely adore [name]Libby[/name] and I could get it with either of these. It’s also an homage to my childhood best friend (she’s [name]Elizabeth[/name] “[name]Beth[/name]”). Which is most usable? I live in the Midwest US. Which do you like most? I say [name]Lilibeth[/name] more like Lill-uh-[name]Beth[/name]" instead of the smooshed LilyBeth. [name]How[/name] do you say it? Which spelling do you prefer for lizbeth/[name]Lisbeth[/name]?

Which goes best with [name]Owen[/name], [name]Sullivan[/name] and [name]Annabel[/name]?

I don’t care for [name]Elspeth[/name] or [name]Elsbeth[/name]. When I say it outloud it’s way to similar to [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I think everyone would assume that’s what I said.

Thoughts?

I like [name]Lisbeth[/name] a lot more than [name]Elizabeth[/name]. [name]Don[/name]'t like [name]Lizbeth[/name] though. I say [name]Lilibeth[/name] more like Lilybeth which inthink is nice too.

I think [name]Lilibeth[/name] would get [name]Lily[/name] [name]Beth[/name] more often than not. I love [name]Libby[/name] as a nn for [name]Lisbeth[/name], and prefer the s spelling personally.

I prefer Lillibeth to be lisbeth sounds like you are saying [name]Elizabeth[/name] fast!

I like Lillibeth with [name]Annabel[/name]! I think they sounds cute together!

[name]Lisbeth[/name] was my crush name growing up because of one of the American Girl dolls ([name]Kirstin[/name]?) had a cousin [name]Lisbeth[/name]. It’s so simple but so pretty. I prefer the s spelling. My only worry would be people always thinking it’s [name]Elizabeth[/name], not an issue if you plan to use [name]Libby[/name] anyway.

Lillibeth is decidedly more frilly, but that might go better with [name]Annabell[/name].

I think [name]Lisbeth[/name] and [name]Lilibeth[/name] are cute! If I had the guts (and wasn’t so in love with [name]Liliana[/name] and [name]Lillian[/name]), I would probably use [name]Lilibet[/name]! I think it’s adorable.

I would go for [name]Lilibeth[/name], personally, but that’s just me. I knew a [name]Lisbeth[/name] and everyone always ended up calling her [name]Elizabeth[/name]/[name]Lizabeth[/name]. I do like [name]Lisbeth[/name] more than [name]Lizbeth[/name], though! [name]Lisbeth[/name] seems softer to me. I think [name]Lilibeth[/name]/[name]Lilibet[/name] is adorable with [name]Annabel[/name]!

[name]Lisbeth[/name] and [name]Lilibeth[/name] are totally usuable!

I slightly prefer [name]Lisbeth[/name] because [name]Lilibeth[/name] might be easily confused with [name]Lily[/name]-[name]Beth[/name]. I also like [name]Lilibet[/name] which ashthedreamer suggested.

I’d say [name]Lilibeth[/name] like ‘Lill-i (like the first sound in ‘it’)-bith’. I live in the US

I only like [name]Elizabeth[/name]. Lis/[name]Lizbeth[/name] and [name]Lilibeth[/name] seem like nicknames, and not very appealing ones at that.

Funnily enough, I never realized it until you asked, but I’m really not sure that they are usable. They’re just so confusing, and so close to what’s probably the most common and enduring feminine English name of all time (maybe second to [name]Mary[/name].) I’m sure they’d be mistaken for [name]Elizabeth[/name] constantly, and I think they’d need more explanation than you’d expect. Maybe I’m biased against them because I find them so awkward and clunky, but I just don’t think they’d work.

I posted a thread not too long ago about [name]Lisbeth[/name], I think its stunning! My favourite from your options for sure

[name]Lisbeth[/name] would be wonderful with [name]Owen[/name], [name]Sullivan[/name], and [name]Annabel[/name]! I find the name to be lovely and underused.

I love the name [name]Lisbeth[/name], probably because it is the namesake of one of my favourite illustrators, [name]Lisbeth[/name] Zwerger.

[name]Lisbeth[/name] is adorable. [name]Lilibeth[/name]? I prefer it’s separated.

Bumping this as I’d love to hear more opinions on Lillibeth or other variants of [name]Elizabeth[/name] people like. Especially with [name]Annabel[/name]!

[name]Lizbeth[/name] is my friend’s middle name. I think it’s cute, but incomplete. However, I think with the right girls, those names can be pulled off just fine.

I don’t like [name]Lisbeth[/name], It sounds like a little child trying to say [name]Elizabeth[/name].

I actually really like [name]Lilibeth[/name]. [name]Lilibeth[/name] works really well with your other children’s names especially [name]Annabel[/name]. I think [name]Lilibeth[/name] would sometimes get confused with [name]Lily[/name]-beth but it wouldn’t be a huge deal. My name gets confused with [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Jamie[/name] all the time and it’s not an issue. The people that matter (family, friends, work colleagues, church family) know how to pronounce and spell it.

With your other kids names I like [name]Lisbeth[/name] best. (I think it’s very useable).
Personally I prefer [name]Lisbet[/name] or [name]Elisabetta[/name] both of which I feel would work with your sib-set as well.

I prefer [name]Lisbeth[/name] over [name]Lizbeth[/name], but I think I’m tied on [name]Lisbeth[/name] vs [name]Lilibeth[/name]. You may have to spell the names or explain, but if the nn [name]Libby[/name] is used frequently that isn’t a major issue. I’m [name]Katherine[/name] and I have to spell my name because of the numerous variations. So going with a more common name doesn’t guarantee that you don’t spell it out for people. I completely love the nn [name]Libby[/name] btw!

At first, I thought [name]Lilibeth[/name] was said like ‘[name]Lilly[/name]-[name]Beth[/name]’. I prefer [name]Lisbeth[/name].

I also like [name]Libby[/name] and think [name]Lisbeth[/name] (my pref over [name]Lizbeth[/name]) or [name]Lilibeth[/name] (much better than LilyBeth!) would work.
