We have been ttc for 3 years and our top choice if we have a girl is [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] Eirwen. We love it so much. Popularity likely won’t change my mind but do you think [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] will get alot more popular with the [name_f]Elle[/name_f]/[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]/E name crazy going on right now? It seems to have consistently stayed in the 300-400 range since the 60s and sometimes dropping into the 500s and 600s. Right now it is at it’s most popular at 318. [name_m]Just[/name_m] curious what predictions are on it’s popularity rising or not. I am not overly concerned since it seems more common as a middle name and had only just over 1000 uses last year. [name_m]Just[/name_m] curious
I have only ever met one [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], and she spelled her name [name_u]Noel[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is a lovely name, and that it will probably stay in the approximate popularity range that it is in now.
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is more common as a middle name and I haven’t met a [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]. I think that the [name_f]Ella[/name_f] craze is just stemming from Twilight with [name_f]Bella[/name_f], so I don’t think [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] will rise in popularity anytime soon. Also, I haven’t noticed an ‘E’ letter name craze as much as I’ve seen the [name_f]Ella[/name_f]/[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]/[name_f]Elle[/name_f] popularity rise/craze.
I like [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]. I generally prefer it as a middle (which is where I think the majority of people prefer it). I knew one [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] in college, but I haven’t met anyone with the name–first or middle–since. I do think it’ll continue to rise in popularity, but I don’t see it going above the 200 mark at most. I think it’s generally favorably seen, but I doubt it’ll ever be rampantly popular.
I love this name. I know one under one & a few in their 20s as well. For me [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is like [name_f]Autumn[/name_f], it doesn’t feel dated to a specific time and I can imagine a newborn up to early 30s, but it has no vintage vibe for me. I think that the [name_f]Elle[/name_f]/[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]/[name_f]Ella[/name_f] connection is something to think about. I could also see [name_f]Nell[/name_f] & [name_f]Nova[/name_f] catching on a bit. All and all, I think that [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is a solid name that’s not flowery/girly/princessy but not strong/tomboyish/surnamey either. It’s just a solid name that can appeal to a lot of kinds of taste & work in a lot of different sibsets. I feel like it will stay put for the most part.
It’s not very popular as a first name. I only know one lady with the first name [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]. I know several people with that as a middle name, though. I think you’re safe to use it as a first name.
