Do you think Paris is a tacky name?

Hello,
do you think [name_u]Paris[/name_u] is a tacky name?

Thank You.

To be blunt, yes. [name_f]Maris[/name_f] could be an alternative as it is only a letter away from [name_u]Paris[/name_u].

I don’t think so, but I think a lot of people would think so. I know ppl named [name_u]Paris[/name_u], and perhaps that’s why I don’t view it that way.

I know someone in her 30’s named [name_u]Paris[/name_u] who is smart and stunning so I don’t think of it that way

I think it’s relatively nice, but mostly tacky

I find it very tacky, along with most blatantly place names (i.e., [name_u]London[/name_u], [name_u]Dallas[/name_u], [name_u]Dakota[/name_u], [name_f]China[/name_f]…the list goes on).

Yes! And I feel that way about 99% of place names.

Yes, and that’s my opinion on most place names

Please don’t get me wrong as this is one of my favourite guilty pleasure names but I don’t feel like it would be the stage name of an exotic dancer.

I do find it a bit tacky.

But I have that opinion of most geographic names ([name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u], [name_u]London[/name_u], etc.). I also have a general dislike of unisex names, which this fits into also…

I suppose, like any other name, it depends on your personal associations.

Simply, yes.

I find it tacky, yes. I much prefer it on a boy. I dont think its a bad choice though.

Yes, as are most city/place names, in my opinion.

Yes, as most of the previous posters have said. I don’t think all place names are tacky, but [name_u]Paris[/name_u] is. It’s tacky in the way naming a child after a brand is, like [name_u]Lexus[/name_u], [name_f]Chanel[/name_f], [name_u]Armani[/name_u], etc. when the brand is the first thing to come to mind over another association with it, like [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m].

No, because place names are common!

I don’t find it tacky for a girl, but I would find it obnoxious/snooty on a boy. For me I think a lot would depend on the middle name, though. It would need a middle name that really tones it down, rather than making it over the top. Something classic, like :

[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Leona[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]

I think there is a tacky person named [name_u]Paris[/name_u], but that does not make the name tacky. I don’t view [name_u]Paris[/name_u] as a place name. I view [name_u]Paris[/name_u] as an ancient mythological name, and I think it is lovely and substantial because of that (and equally usable for a girl or a boy for the same reason). Since it is also a place, there are far worse cities to be named for than [name_u]Paris[/name_u], [name_f]France[/name_f].
