Worked out a few weeks ago that, for 2011 data, [name]Rory[/name] is 99.5% male in [name]England[/name], [name]Wales[/name] & [name]Scotland[/name]. It’s all boy to me, I really can’t see it on a girl.
Dislike it on a girl
It is a boy’s name. Period.
I’m from the US I’m not sure how high it was ranked for a girl
I prefer it as a nickname, especially for a girl, but I don’t think it’s awful on its own. I consider it unisex because it can be a nickname. It’s 598 for boys, 900 for girls, though names like [name]Aurora[/name] and [name]Lorelei[/name] also rank.
[name]Rory[/name] is 100% male to me, but I don’t mind it as a nickname for a girl.
I guess I’m in the minority by saying that I see it as a girl name, but maybe that’s because I tend to like unisex names on girls over boys.
This is what I was thinking as well.
I guess it’s more a boys name to me because of its meaning as well it means red king
I knew a girl named [name]Rory[/name] growing up, so for me it’s firmly unisex.
I think it’s more of a boy’s given name, but it’s an ok nickname for a girl.
I like it fairly equally as a nickname for either a boy or a girl, for [name]Gregory[/name] or [name]Rosemary[/name].
It is all boy to me and even the meaning of the name backs it up as one of masculine origin.
Its a 100% boy name on its own for me.
I think it is a cute nickname on a girl for [name]Aurora[/name] or something.
