[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] is a name that I am really starting to like. I mentioned this to a group of friends, who are also name enthusiasts, and a few of them said that, while they think [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] is an okay name and that there’s nothing really “wrong” with it, it sounds a bit feminine for a growing boy. They said that they think it works for a baby and for a child, but, once the boy is older, it may sound too young and/or girly. One of them said that they like [name_m]Weston[/name_m], which is in my top five currently, a lot more.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] will age well, and do you think it, while it’s definitely masculine, has a girly undertone?
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] is 100% a boy name. I think it will age perfectly fine. Honestly most names do in my opinion, except maybe something like [name_f]Bambi[/name_f].
I love [name_m]Wesley[/name_m], and strongly disagree that it is feminine. It’s like [name_m]Julian[/name_m] or [name_m]Caleb[/name_m]: it has a strong softness but is definitely masculine. I hate the way it’s trendy for names to be ultra-masculine so that girls are named [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] and [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and boys are named [name_m]Archer[/name_m] and [name_m]Gunner[/name_m]. [name_m]Weston[/name_m] sounds trendy and will not age well, but [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] is much more timeless.
I don’t think it’s feminine sounding at all, though it is a softer sounding name. I think it should age fine. [name_m]Weston[/name_m] is nice too, just sounds a little trendier. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nn [name_m]Wes[/name_m].
I have never found [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] to be feminine, and I like it much better than [name_m]Weston[/name_m]. I feel that it will age better too, as [name_m]Weston[/name_m] feels very young and very much a fad kind of name while [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] feels more across the decades for me.
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] is a great name. It’s one of the softer cowboy type names that I love. [name_m]Wes[/name_m] is also an awesome nn. I love it for a boy and while I actually like some of the boy names on girls this is definitely not one of them. [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] way over [name_m]Weston[/name_m] which is too trendy right now.
I really like [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]. It reminds me of [name_m]Westley[/name_m] from The [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Bride[/name_f] but the spelling looks nicer. If you haven’t see that movie it might help sell you on the name. I also like the nn [name_m]Wes[/name_m].
I think [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] is great! Cute and charming, but kinda trendy. I think it will age perfectly fine - he’ll probably become [name_m]Wes[/name_m] as he gets older anyway. I don’t think it is feminine at all.
I actually know a woman named [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]. I’ve never thought of it as a girl’s name, and she also goes by her middle name instead. (I just thought this was interesting to mention since everyone else seems to agree it’s less of a feminine name lol) To me [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] would suit a boy very nicely and I don’t see an issue with it sounding too young either. I think both [name_m]Weston[/name_m] and [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] are nice names
I like [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] much more than [name_m]Weston[/name_m]. I think it’s a great name for a boy and a man. I have met a grown man [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] and he was masculine.
Since it isn’t listed as unisex, that shows that hardly anybody is using [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] for girls. It’s a boy’s name.
[name_f]Every[/name_f] single [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] I’ve ever met/heard of has been a guy, so I definitely see it as a boy name. I’ve had the same experience with names like [name_u]Ryan[/name_u], [name_u]Tyler[/name_u], [name_u]Dylan[/name_u], [name_u]Kyle[/name_u], etc. [name_f]EVERY[/name_f] person I’ve met with one of these names has been a guy, I have yet to meet a single woman with any of those names, and those four names are used for girls more often then [name_m]Wesley[/name_m].
So, [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] is 100% boy if you ask me.
