Do you think these girls names are ripe for a comeback?

I can see the names Rosemary, Blanche, Claudia, and Jeanette becoming popular again in the future.

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is already making a comeback imo. It fits in perfectly with the trend for nature/cottagecore style names.

I absolutely love the name [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] so I really hope that doesn’t get more popular! :joy:

I think [name_f]Blanche[/name_f] and [name_f]Jeanette[/name_f] might not quite be ready for their comeback, but I’m sure in time parents will see the appeal again.

Yeah [name_f]Blanche[/name_f] may have a hard time because it literally translates to “white” but I can totally see it on a preppy popular “Chloe” type girl.

I can as wel! 100 year rule

How long do you think it takes for old names to come back into the spotlight? [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] feels very dated when it was most popular 50/60 years ago but Hazel–which was popular around 100 years ago–does not.

100 years, those 2 seem to just be exceptions. The rule isn’t perfect.

Yes to [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Claudia[/name_f], and [name_f]Jeanette[/name_f].

Idk about [name_f]Blanche[/name_f]. It sounds so harsh, but it does have a nice, vintage vibe.

[name_f]Blanche[/name_f] and [name_f]Jeanette[/name_f] seem pretty out of date to me (at least from a British perspective - I don’t know about other countries). I think it could take a few decades for them to seem fresh again. [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] seem more timeless/classic to me. I don’t think they ever went out of fashion on the same scale as [name_f]Blanche[/name_f].

I agree! [name_f]Jeanette[/name_f] fits right in with names trending and growing popularity today such as [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Amorette[/name_f], etc… I could very well see it make a comeback and same goes to [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]

I can see [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] having a comeback. But [name_f]Blanche[/name_f] and [name_f]Jeanette[/name_f] seem a bit too dated to become popular soon.

Same with me for [name_f]Claudia[/name_f]! It’s in our top twenty right now, so I really hope it doesn’t get popular. I’ve never known an actual [name_f]Claudia[/name_f], though, and I’m in my 30s and a teacher…it seems to be a name that’s been around for a while, but never super popular.

Rosemary–I think this one has already started its comeback! At least in the US, it never left the top 1000 and has jumped 300+ places in the past 10-ish years. I do think it’s lovely and deserves the increase in popularity!

Blanche–I want to like this, but I don’t find the sound or the word association particularly appealing. I’d be surprised to see it become popular again, but who knows!

Claudia–I could definitely see this one coming back. Its popularity chart is really interesting–it held steady for a long time and then started to drop rapidly in the '90s. I’m not sure what that means for its future trajectory, but I think (and hope!) it’ll be popular again at some point.

Jeanette–Actually, this one has a similar looking chart to [name_f]Claudia[/name_f], which surprised me–I think of it as being more dated to one time period. That being said, I actually quite like it and I could see it coming back in the future. It has a sweet, bouncy, energetic sound that I think makes it appealing!

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] are definitely. I think they are already making a comeback.

[name_f]Blanche[/name_f], no. I know a 26yo [name_f]Blanche[/name_f] and still find it odd!

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] definitely!

[name_f]Claudia[/name_f] and [name_f]Jeanette[/name_f] could come back too though I’m not sure on [name_f]Blanche[/name_f]

rosemary and claudia are pretty popular in my age group and area (mid/late teens, england), but don’t feel dated to me like some other similarly popular names (e.g. megan), so honestly they don’t feel “out” to me at all. blanche and jeanette do feel dated, but i can see them coming back ! blanche more quickly than jeanette for me - it already has a little vintage flair.

I absolutely love [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] and have for ages now! Starting to love [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] again as well so I would love to see a return of those two definitely

[name_f]My[/name_f] daughter (who is 2.5 years old) is named [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (some call her [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] but I insist on the full [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] :joy:), so I obviously feel it is still a viable option these days, but I do hope it doesn’t become too popular!

I also like [name_f]Claudia[/name_f]- it reminds me of the Babysitters Club books! I could see it making a comeback.

I’m not so sure about [name_f]Blanche[/name_f] and Jeanette… they seem pretty dated to me.

Also [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] I think is ripe for a comeback.

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] for sure- I’ve seen [name_u]Claude[/name_u] for both genders pop up and all the “rose” names seem to popular (wildrose, primrose, [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], etc). And I’ve seen [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_u]Bliss[/name_u] as middles a lot so I bet [name_f]Blanche[/name_f] will as well. [name_f]Jeanette[/name_f] I’m not sure about. It could rise with names like [name_f]Lisette[/name_f] and [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] but it still fells a little middle age to me.

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] seems to be all rage on nameberry… I personally find it quite dated and can only think of “Rosemary’s Baby”. I also don’t like it’s sounds nor looks… neither do I think spice association is exciting thing to be named for…
but I’m in minority.
