I want to name my son (due in [name]July[/name]) after my dad. [name]Reginald[/name]. But that would just be on the bc, we would call him [name]Reggie[/name]. So what do you think about [name]Reggie[/name]? I know its different but Im just hoping that when we announce it, not everyone will be opposed.
My friends love it, my in laws hate it. We would pick a very new name for the middle:)
I kind of like it, actually. If you in-laws are opposed, maybe you could look for other [name]Reg[/name]-names (like Regulus), so you’d still have the [name]Reggie[/name] connection to your dad, but a fn that they’d like a little more?
I like [name]Reggie[/name] as a nickname and [name]Reginald[/name] is very handsome. If you just want [name]Reggie[/name], though, I like the pp suggestion of other [name]Reg[/name]- names to get [name]Reggie[/name].
The [name]Reg[/name]- name that I like much more than [name]Reginald[/name] is [name]Regis[/name].
I guess I should have added that it doesn’t bother me that my inlaws hate it:) lol But thank you! Im feeling better about it already!
And I know I would for sure want [name]Reginald[/name] and to call him [name]Reggie[/name]. I want it the same as my dad:) I would just pick another name if we didn’t use the same as my dads. You ladies are wonderful!
I actually really like [name]Reginald[/name] with the nn [name]Reggie[/name]. It’s got a very British, vintage feel that characterizes a lot of my favorite names. I don’t know if you’d like any suggestions for modern middles, but I came up with a few just for fun! I decided [name]Reginald[/name] sounds really good with punchy one-syllables or short two syllables!
Thank you so much for the middle name suggestions! I was thinking the same thing about 1-2 syllables! The only middle names I have discussed with my husband so far have been [name]James[/name], [name]Lee[/name], [name]Grey[/name], [name]Emmett[/name], Maxsen. But as you can see I said I like new-ish names and while I think it sounds okay with [name]James[/name] and [name]Lee[/name], I just think its a tad boring for me. Im looking to spice it up.
Thank you so much for your suggestions! We loved [name]Wyatt[/name] early on;)
Sorry I don’t like it. I wouldn’t want to go through high school being named [name]Reggie[/name]. It makes me think of soup or something. Maybe [name]Reginald[/name] would work better as a middle name? All the best.
Thank you for your honesty! I was so worried about people not liking it but its actually not bothering me anymore:) Maybe I have found my name afterall!
That’s my pastor’s name, everyone calls him [name]Pastor[/name] [name]Reggie[/name]. Nothing odd about it to me but it is a bit heavy for a baby. [name]Just[/name] come up with a cute/youthful middle or nickname then when he’s older he can be [name]Reginald[/name]
I don’t TOTALLY hate the name. Actually, I don’t hate it at all. I’d rather meet a [name]Reginald[/name] than a Jaedonn. I don’t like the name personally, but it’s respectable and I actually love the nickname [name]Reggie[/name]; I think that makes it more wearable for a little boy. He’ll go to school with other boys with long names like [name]Christopher[/name], [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Elijah[/name], which would be shortened to [name]Chris[/name], [name]Alex[/name], [name]Ben[/name] and [name]Eli[/name] so [name]Reginald[/name] nn [name]Reggie[/name] seems pretty reasonable to me.
I like [name]Reggie[/name] but not so keen on [name]Reginald[/name] but it’s your choice. It will grow on in laws I’m sure! and it means something to you!
Aww Thank you so much everyone! You all are so sweet! I really think it will mean something to my dad and I am 99% sure we will be going with this name. So thanks to everyone for all of the help! As long as we feel like it fits him when we meet him for the first time, we will use it. I can’t wait to surprise my dad:)
These responses have made me feel so much more confident about the choice. Thanks to all of you!
I know a teenage boy named [name]Reginald[/name] who goes by [name]Reggie[/name], and he wears the name very well. His brother is [name]Ronald[/name] nn [name]Ronnie[/name].
[name]Reggie[/name] is retro and cool. It feels so fresh considering most of his peers will have names that rhyme with [name]Aidan[/name].
