[name]One[/name] of my favourite nicknames at the moment is [name]Evie[/name]. I just think it is gorgeous but would never use it as a first name only a nickname. What do people think of [name]Evie[/name] as a nickname for [name]Vivienne[/name]? [name]Vivienne[/name] is in my top three girls names. What do you think? Does it work or is it a bit of a stretch?
I think it’s too much of a stretch personally, though I’m sure some will disagree with me. [name]Vivienne[/name] is one of my favourite names but I think the nn is pushing it. I love [name]Evie[/name] too, by itself or as a nickname for [name]Evangeline[/name] or [name]Evelyn[/name].
If you introduce her as [name]Evie[/name], people are going to think her name is [name]Eve[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name] or [name]Evangeline[/name]. I think [name]Vivienne[/name] would be a bit of a stretch.
Personally, I think a nickname can be anything that feels natural to the parents. It’s tough to plan what feels natural, though. I know several couples who have planned to call their child by a certain nickname, but then it just didn’t feel right so they go by their full name. If you love [name]Vivienne[/name], go for it and you could try calling her [name]Evie[/name] and see how it feels. (I also know a couple who calls their son by a forced non-name-related nickname that they planned before he was born and it just does not feel right to anyone, but they use it anyway – awkward!) If it works, great; if not, you love [name]Vivienne[/name] anyway, so it all works out great either way!
I think it is a stretch to nn her [name]Evie[/name] when her full name is [name]Vivienne[/name]. [name]Vivienne[/name] is beautiful and maybe you can find a nn that comes naturally like my Papa calls me Shortcake cause he used to sing to me and feed me shortcake when my Mama wasn’t around. (:
