[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is definitely a top boys name for me, and has always been a favourite, even though I know a lot of people see it as dated and overused. However, I’m not a fan of the more common sister ideas for [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] (such as [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], etc). If I were to have two boys, I’d likely call them [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] and [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], but none of my girls names really fit into the same grouping as [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] and [name_u]Tristan[/name_u].
Does a name like [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] need to be paired with a classic name in order to work? Or could an [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] have a little sister named something like [name_f]Betsy[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], etc? (No, [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Betsy[/name_f]/[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] is out, as is [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] for [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. They’re on my list as proper given names and that isn’t changing).
I don’t think [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] has to be paired with classics, though tbh, I don’t think any name has to fit stylistically with sibling names (but that’s another story). I get a very vintage feel from names like [name_f]Betsy[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] (especially the former two), and as [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is a classic, and would have been used in the past when [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] etc, were in their prime, I think [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] sounds fine with them.
I don’t think [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] has to be paired with classic names at all. Actually I’m not sure I’ve met an [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] paired with classics. I’ve always thought as [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] as a kind of “universal” name. It goes with pretty much anything without being out of place. I know an [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] who has an older brother named [name_m]Bart[/name_m] (after is dad) a younger brother named [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] nn [name_m]Zach[/name_m] and a younger sister named [name_f]Brielle[/name_f]. I don’t consider any of those names (besides [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]) as a classic name.
I think [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] works fine with any of those names. It’s not the most matchy of matched sibsets but that’s not a big concern [name_f]IMO[/name_f] with real children. As long as you are fine with it I doubt anyone else would even notice.
I think [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is perfect with any of the names you listed. But I’m also one who thinks the sibset business is way overrated. I mean, its fun to make up ideal ones. But when it comes to actual children, i think it makes more sense to just name them something you and your partner love. That being said I don’t care for names that are too similar, like if you said hey how does it sound to have an [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] and [name_u]Andrea[/name_u], that’s an issue. Or rhyming names or something. But I certainly would not bat an eye if I heard of brother and sister, [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] & [name_f]Betsy[/name_f].
I think it’s nice to have some similarities in sibsets (although, I’m not a fan of super match-y). The names you listed aren’t too far off and I think could work. I do know twins that are named [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] and [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] and they don’t fit together for me (and I know others who feel the same).
I think [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is a beautiful name (it is on my list but would have to be regulated to mn place, because it is my fathers name) and I don’t exactly have a ‘classic’ style. I think [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] / [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] / [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] (I love [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], and [name_f]Elke[/name_f]) would be wonderful together. I think [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is very strong and versatile in that it would fit well with nn names, certain word names and mythological names, Shakespearian and quirky names. The only sorts of names I don’t think it would fit well with are modern invented, trendy names, like [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f] and Zayydn.
I definitely don’t see [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] as dated or overused, at least not in Australia. I know that in [name_m]Britain[/name_m] it is meant to be quite a common fn for boys, but I have only met 1 [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] who was a child- let me tell you, it was a breath of fresh air amongst all the Zayydn’s, [name_m]Kale[/name_m]'s, Jye’s, [name_u]Taj[/name_u]'s, [name_m]Kylan[/name_m]'s, etc. (not bashing those names- they are just the most common names in my area). He was the loveliest little boy too- extremely polite and gentle, with big dark eyes. I also only know of 4 [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]'s who are adults: my father, our neighbour, my dad’s friend and 1 of my dad’s cousins ([name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is a family name. Andrews used to be the surname, but it got changed- nobody remembers why.)
So in short- [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is a very handsome, strong, beautiful name that goes well with those wonderful names you picked out. Good luck.

So in short- [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is a very handsome, strong, beautiful name that goes well with those wonderful names you picked out. I agree, the sibset thing is a bit overrated- I think it is much more important to pick a name you love, and that suits your child.
I think it’s fine. [name_f]My[/name_f] opinion on “matching” stylistically when naming siblings varies depending on the names in consideration. [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] and [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] sound great, and I think the girl’s names you mentioned ([name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] etc.) work well.
I’d say since [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is such a sturdy, timeless classic he could easily be paired with more retro names like [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Betsy[/name_f]. He fits in many different time periods because of his resilience, at least [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
