If you do, I want to see your lists! Mine are click-able links in my signature if you’re as curious as I am.
Also, these are probably my two favorite User lists! Cool French Boys’ Names and A BUNCH OF HIPSTER COWBOYS.
I have about 4 lists, 1 list of idea for girls, 1 list of Combos for girls, and the same ideas for the other 2, but for boys. They are set to private though, so I don’t think linking them will work.
From your lists though, I love
[name]Elise[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Natalia[/name] and [name]Ottilie[/name]
and from the boys
[name]Bennett[/name], [name]Dimitri[/name], and [name]Raleigh[/name]
(Note - Although, I don’t love [name]Bosco[/name], I knew one once, he was pretty cool)
The two lists you posted have some names not even registered on Nameberry, very interesting to read.
I love lists with unregistered names on it. In fact, I made one myself! 9 Boys’ Names With History That Aren’t Registered on Nameberry. Most of them are surnames though. lol
I use user list. I have one for boys and one for girls.
I have a list of favorites and then a list of all the names that have ever been at the top of my list. I don’t really use other users’ lists unless I’m looking for something specific, you know?
My first list, Beautiful but Rare Girls’ Names, was listed as one of the most visited user lists in 2012… Which I’m not happy with, suprisingly. I used a site with data that was off for those names, so many of the rankings are off. I need to get around to fixing them but I always forget.
I don’t use user lists a lot, except in the case of a list of names from ethnicities that aren’t covered by Nameberry’s lists. [name]One[/name] of my favorites is Japanese names for Girls by ScarlettRobin. Since Nameberry needs more lists of ethnic names that aren’t from the popular Europe countries these lists help out a lot for writers. (Nameberry doesn’t feature a wide variety of these names [name]IMO[/name], other than the ones that are made Western or popular in English speaking countries through media or public figures).
Here are some other cool user lists that feature names from different cultures that have some that aren’t in the database:
Persian/Iranian/Arabic Girl Names by alexa400
Greek Mythology Names by ScarlettRobin
Greenlandic Names by shvibziks
Other French Names by lizardjay
theclocktowerofjoy, your boy list is exactly my style! I love most, if not all, of the names on it. And yeah, that’s pretty much what I do too, heytherepigeon. Oh, and you’re right aurra. Other culture’s names don’t get a whole lot of love it seems. I love that list of Greenlandic names!
I have three in my signature.
I like randomly just looking through user lists when I’m bored, there are some interesting finds every now and then.
Yay
I also really love your old Danish names list, shvibziks! [name]Lauritz[/name], [name]Soren[/name], [name]Niels[/name], [name]Marius[/name], and [name]Sylvester[/name] are all loves of mine.
Thank you so much, I’m so thrilled that some people actually like Danish names, they are kinda hard to pronounce afterall
I have 30-something lists. Some of them are quite random.
I have my top 25/100 for each gender in my signature.
I love to look at the lists because you never know when you are going to come across a new name. Think I might make one for my more unique names.
Yeah! That’s exactly how I feel too, mclola. You never know what kind of gem you’ll come across that you might fall in love with. That’s why I comb the User List section when I’m bored. And, of course, why I posted this thread. In case anyone had anything interesting to share that would otherwise be lost in the sea of lists on the index.
