Does Echo work in my sibset?

Hello berries!
These forums were very helpful in naming my last 2 babies so I am hoping you guys can help me on my fourth, and final, child’s name. It’s another GIRL due in 3 months. [name_f]My[/name_f] children are [name_f]Lila[/name_f] (lee-lah), Miro (mih-row) and [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]. DH likes short names with no nickname possibilities. He chose our son Miro’s name so I got way more of a say on [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]. I feel like we have looked at every single name and DH has vetoed so many. I asked DH for his top 6 names since he just keeps saying no to all mine. They are:

[name_f]Indie[/name_f]- this is the name he wanted to give [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]. He will NOT agree on any long version, I have tried.
[name_f]Tippi[/name_f]- also a left over name from [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_u]Echo[/name_u]- new one
[name_f]Etta[/name_f]- doesn’t like longer versions
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f]- we can’t use a friend has used it already
[name_f]Vidette[/name_f]- I am not sure

[name_f]Do[/name_f] any of these names work w my kids? Are there any other names you can suggest that my husband may like?

I think [name_u]Echo[/name_u] works. [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] is beautiful name.

Thank you sorceress! It’s too long for Dh’s taste but he liked the [name_m]Picasso[/name_m] connection and the fact that it means dove. He likes names that refrence artists, nature and musicians. Miro was named for the artist [name_u]Joan[/name_u] Miro.

I think [name_f]Tippi[/name_f] works well, and [name_f]Etta[/name_f] exudes golden hollywood, good second choice.

Your sibset already has an international flair to it so I really think all the name you’ve listed would work great. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are:

I think [name_f]Indie[/name_f] is cute if it weren’t used so much to denote certain aspects of our culture. She’d hear her name being used in every day conversation a bit. Here are some I’ve come across recently…

Aym I think what you said about indie is what I don’t like and what DH likes! He likes that most people get that [name_f]Indie[/name_f] is short for Independence. I am happy to hear some positive feedback on [name_u]Echo[/name_u]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] although a friend has already used it. [name_f]Thais[/name_f] is a great suggestion let me see if DH will consider.

Hello merylp so nice to see you back. I guess that [name_u]Echo[/name_u] does work but I think that with [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] having such pretty names that a third baby girl deserves a soft pretty name like her sisters.

Have you thought about [name_f]Eva[/name_f]? [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is beautiful.

Hello rollo! I agree with you that my girls do have soft names but DH and I can’t seem to agree on any soft names. [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is such a pretty name unfortunetly where we live [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is super popular. There are 2 [name_f]Eva[/name_f]'s in [name_f]Lila[/name_f]'s class and one in [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]'s. it’s hard naming this girl because a huge part of me what’s the girls name to be in the same vein as [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] but another part of me what’s a name I really love independent of sibset. These 2 things seem to not be converging.

What is it with men and short, short names?! lol [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is the same! See my signature? Those are names we agree on… no more than 2 syllables or six letters ever seem to receive his approval. :slight_smile:

I love [name_u]Echo[/name_u] the best of all your choices! I like how it ends in O just like Miro.
I also feel like something with an R in the middle would be nice, to balance out Miro, since the other girls both have L in the middle…
With any one of these choices, all the girls’ names would end in A.

I like your idea of having an R in the name like Miro but feel like its just too much to ask to find a name that we both like and has an R. I do like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] but DH vetoed.

[name_f]Princess[/name_f] namenerd- [name_f]Esta[/name_f] is a frequently used word in Spanish so it sounds strange to my ear. However I agree it looks pretty.

Thanx ceecee! I found no threads about the name [name_u]Echo[/name_u] and it’s not really on any lists so I was starting to think that maye I was going way out there. I don’t really like discussing names w my family or pregnant friends as I feel like my style is very different from theirs and I don’t like how some ppl say rude things.

Sorry! updated my setting so my signature will show! The only reason DH agreed to [name_f]Florence[/name_f] and Leonhard (the long names on our list) is they’re still only 2 syllables… Notice we put them in the middle. They are also family names. He also likes the nn “[name_f]Flora[/name_f].” In general he likes names that cannot be shortened into nicknames. His name is very short ([name_u]Ryan[/name_u]) so I think that is a factor…
I really do think [name_u]Echo[/name_u] and the names of your other children are lovely. It can be so frustrating to try to find the perfect one- let alone agree with a spouse- but I think you’ve managed quite well. :slight_smile:
Just curious- have you thought of a middle for baby girl?
