Does Ella Kelly sound good, or really bad??

[name]Love[/name] the name [name]Ella[/name]. I think it flows nicely with the last name [name]Kelly[/name], but not sure based on some other opinions. Other ideas are [name]Isla[/name] [name]Kelly[/name], [name]Adalyn[/name] [name]Kelly[/name], and [name]Lucie[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]. Opinions please!!

It’s not the worst I’ve heard, but I think there’s too much “elle” sound back-to-back. From your list, I like [name]Isla[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] best, but you can always go with [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] and call her [name]Ella[/name].

I agree with garnet that there are too many “elle” sounds in this combination which makes it a bit hard to pronounce.

[name]How[/name] about [name]Lucia[/name] (loo-SEE-ah) [name]Kelly[/name] with nn [name]Lucie[/name]?
Or, [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] with nn [name]Isa[/name], [name]Izzy[/name], or [name]Dorie[/name].
Or, [name]Alice[/name] or [name]Alicia[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] with nn [name]Ali[/name].
Or, [name]Adela[/name] (Nickelodeon Parents | Printables, coloring pages, recipes, crafts, and more from your child’s favorite Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. shows.) [name]Kelly[/name] with nn [name]Ada[/name].

[name]Do[/name] any of those appeal?

I think it sounds pretty bad, sorry. Like the previous posters, I think [name]Eleanor[/name] is a great solution for you, but if that absolutely won’t work there are some other options that can lead to [name]Ella[/name] as a nickname:
[name]Eliana[/name]
[name]Eliora[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
There are also plenty of names that end with [name]Ella[/name] and could be used to get to it as a nickname. I don’t think they sound quite as good with [name]Kelly[/name] as the above names, but I think they still sound better than [name]Ella[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]:
[name]Annabella[/name]
[name]Arabella[/name]
[name]Daniella[/name]
[name]Gisella[/name]
[name]Isabella[/name]
[name]Marcella[/name]
[name]Mariella[/name]

A few more names to add to daisy’s list:

[name]Adele[/name]/[name]Adela[/name]
[name]Elena[/name]
[name]Mirabella[/name]
[name]Estella[/name]/[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Ariella[/name]
[name]Gabriella[/name]

[name]Ella[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] has too much “L” going on. Of the names you listed [name]Adalyn[/name] is my favorite. With a two syllable surname I think it’s best to go with a one or three syllable first name.

I Like [name]Adalyn[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] but if you really like [name]Ella[/name] perhaps [name]Elisabetta[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] and use [name]Ela[/name] as a nn? ([name]ELisAbetta[/name])

It’s not awful, but I would agree the double ll sound in both names is not ideal, and it does not have a good flow to my ears.

I think it’s terrible. They rhyme, except for the very last syllable. I agree that a longer [name]Ella[/name] name would work fine, though. [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Elena[/name], [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Eliana[/name]…

Out of your other choices, I really like [name]Isla[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]. [name]Adalyn[/name] is very tryndeigh, but [name]Adeline[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] would be beautiful! I prefer [name]Lucy[/name] spelled like that, and while [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] is pretty rhymey, I think it’s doable. Other names you might like:

[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Mira[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Eva[/name]
[name]Lila[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Tessa[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]

It’s not good. And while I kind of think it’s improved by suggestions of other names with [name]Ella[/name] as a nickname, people are sometimes known and called by nickname + last name (I am), so it doesn’t completely avoid the problem. Also, what if she ends up [name]Ellie[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]? Pretty unfortunate.

I agree a one or three syllable name (or longer) will work really nice with your surname. [name]Adalyn[/name] is quite pleasing - I have a mild preference for spelling [name]Adaline[/name] fwiw, but no biggie. [name]Addie[/name] is a cute nn. I agree, [name]Lucie[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] is a little sing-song-y too, and I’d recommend [name]Lucia[/name] or [name]Lucinda[/name] with a nn [name]Lucie[/name].

[name]Isla[/name]'s quite pretty and works fine, but I think the longer names work best.

You might like:
[name]Evelyn[/name] ([name]Evie[/name]/[name]Evvie[/name]?)
[name]Aveline[/name] (pretty but a bear to spell/hear/say)
[name]Abilene[/name] ([name]Abbie[/name]?)
[name]Theresa[/name] ([name]Tess[/name]/[name]Tessa[/name]/[name]Reese[/name])
[name]Etta[/name] (I’d recommend as nn for something longer, like [name]Violet/name [name]Juliet/name, but it would be OK on its own).

Good luck!

Being a fellow [name]Kelly[/name] I definitely don’t think you should ditch a name just because it rhymes.
[name]Ella[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] is a bit much for my taste, but by the same token, I’ve grown to like [name]Stella[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]. Those two letters make all the difference for me. I find names like [name]Stella[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] to be very memorable (in a good way!). I really like [name]Lucie[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] (although I would probably use [name]Lucy[/name] - personal taste). The only reason it’s not on my list is because that’s the name of a road right down from where my parents and DH’s parents live, which makes it weird for me. It has that same memorable quality for me like [name]Stella[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] does!
[name]Isla[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] is also a beautiful choice, but I’m not a fan of [name]Adalyn[/name].

I agree with [name]Garnet[/name] regarding the repetitive [name]EL[/name] sound as well as the option of naming her [name]Eleanor[/name], nn [name]Ella[/name]. From your list, I think [name]Isla[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] sounds fine, and I realy like [name]Isla[/name].

Good luck!

Definitely not terrible, but reminds me of “Lelli [name]Kelly[/name]”-those hideously overpriced bedazzled shoes that are so popular amongst the preschool set.

I’m also a fellow [name]Kelly[/name], and we ditched the first name [name]Stella[/name] for our daughter precisely because we thought it sounded bad. The combination of double Ls and both being 2 syllable names just ruins it for me.

Names that you might like as alternatives – some folks might think these are as “bad” as [name]Ella[/name], but to my ear, they sound MUCH better:
Elila (ee-[name]LEE[/name]-la) [name]Kelly[/name]
[name]Lyla[/name] / [name]Lylah[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]
[name]Olivia[/name] “[name]Liv[/name]” [name]Kelly[/name]
[name]Ada[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]
[name]Abigail[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] / [name]Eva[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]
[name]Eve[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]
[name]Ione[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]

BTW I don’t think that giving her a longer name that is shortened to the nickname [name]Ella[/name] is a good solution, precisely b/c her nickname is how she will most likely be known. I love the name [name]Saskia[/name], but I worry about her getting the nickname [name]Kiki[/name] or [name]Kia[/name] and I think both [name]Kiki[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] and [name]Kia[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] are horrendous.
