Does Evie or Josie feel more nicknamey?

Hey everyone!
[name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering does [name_f]Evie[/name_f] (Eee-vee) or [name_u]Josie[/name_u] (Joze-ee) feel more nicknamey?
Additionally, which feels the stronger of the two?

Thank you!

nickname - evie
stronger- josie

to me at least, both of them of them could be used at full names

[name_f]Evie[/name_f] feels more nickname-y to me, probably because I know three Josieā€™s and two of them are ā€œjustā€ [name_u]Josie[/name_u]. The third is officially [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], but I was actually really surprised to learn she had a longer name since Iā€™d only ever heard her called [name_u]Josie[/name_u], and I couldnā€™t imagine her being called [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] at all.

[name_u]Josie[/name_u] feels stronger to me, too. Probably because of the people I know with the name.

[name_u]Josie[/name_u] feels stronger to me but I like [name_f]Evie[/name_f] as a full name as well

[name_f]Evie[/name_f] feels more like a full name to me, because I know of 3 Evies who are just [name_f]Evie[/name_f].

I donā€™t think I know any ā€œjust Josiesā€ but thatā€™s not to say it couldnā€™t work as a formal name.

Thank you! I thought so too, but wasnā€™t sure. I think [name_u]Josie[/name_u] is lovely as a nickname and is a standalone too!

yeah I definitely think so too!

Hm, [name_u]Josie[/name_u] seems more nicknamey I think! They both work well as nicknames or standalones.

I know a [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and think it works well as a stand-alone name. But I only know nicknamed Evies so Iā€™d always assume thereā€™s a full name back there somewhere.

They feel pretty equal on both counts to me

[name_u]Josie[/name_u] feels more nicknamey. [name_f]Evie[/name_f] feels stronger

[name_u]Josie[/name_u] feels more nicknamey to me. Since I onow more [name_f]Evie[/name_f] & Ellies and the only 2 Josieā€™s I know are [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] & [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]

[name_u]Josie[/name_u] seems more nicknamey but also stronger and therefore works as stand-alone (paradoxically). [name_f]Evie[/name_f] sounds like a nickname but I wouldnā€™t assume that it was because there are so many Evies who are just [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. I personally donā€™t like [name_f]Evie[/name_f] as a stand-alone (and I know a few! :grimacing:), I just think theyā€™ve missed a gem in [name_f]Eve[/name_f] (and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] for when theyā€™re young). [name_u]Josie[/name_u] ages better than [name_f]Evie[/name_f] imo.

[name_u]Josie[/name_u] feels stronger and they both feel equally nicknamey, as in, they are both nicknamey names - but neither one feels unsubstantial and both work equally as full names

[name_u]Josie[/name_u] feels more nicknamey to me, as itā€™s a diminutive while [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is a longer pet form (if you take [name_f]Eve[/name_f] as the base name). I also find [name_f]Evie[/name_f] stronger.

[name_u]Josie[/name_u] feels more like a nn. I know a few women named [name_f]Ivi[/name_f], Iivi, [name_u]Ivy[/name_u], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Eevi[/name_f] etc. The ā€˜-ieā€™ ending is what makes the name feel cutsey.

[name_u]Josie[/name_u] nickname, [name_f]Evie[/name_f] stronger

[name_f]Evie[/name_f] feels more nicknamey. I think [name_u]Josie[/name_u] works well on its own but I think that [name_f]Evie[/name_f] needs a longer name.

Neither of these feel nickname-y to me. Iā€™ve considered using both as full names myself because I love them so much! I know someone who is just [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and that would not stop me from using the name at all. I also know a guy whose 1-year-old is [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] nn. [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. I would say [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is more nickname-y just because I have heard more formal names that can get you to [name_f]Evie[/name_f] (Evelyn, [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_u]Everly[/name_u], etc.) Right now, I am thinking of [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] to get [name_u]Josie[/name_u]. I honestly think both [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and [name_u]Josie[/name_u] are beautiful names that work well by themselves. I think using nicknames as full names is underrated!

I hope this helps, this was fun, thank you!
