[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all, thank you for your comments on my last post about crunchy/boring girls names! I am starting to get very attached to the first name [name_f]Rose[/name_f] for my baby. I have a few more months until baby comes…I don’t want to get MORE attached though, if it doesn’t work with my last name.
Her last name will be Kniffin (k is silent, prounounced niff-en). [name_f]Rose[/name_f] Kniffin. It looks just fine to me, and even sounds fine when I say it. But if I’m looking for reasons to second guess myself, does it sound like “rose sniffing”?
Husband and I have agreed not to speak of baby names with any friends or family, because they might ruin a favorite name. But YOUR opinion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
If, as you said, you’re looking for things that are “wrong”, then that might occur to people. When I said it out loud, though, I didn’t hear “rose sniffing” at all. There will always be drawbacks to a name, but in this case I don’t think it’s very apparent
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a beautiful name.
I don’t think it’s that noticable tbh.
I don’t think anyone would think of that, but if it bothers you, maybe you could use a longer form such as [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], etc.
I think you’re fine. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is such a beautiful name. That said, I like the idea of going with a longer form of the name if bothers you.
Thanks! I do think that [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] would be beautiful, with the nickname [name_f]Rose[/name_f] <3
I only really noticed the whole “rose sniffing” thing until after I read that part. I think [name_f]Rose[/name_f] Kniffin is perfect. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is beautiful name! But, if it really does bother you then maybe go for a longer version of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] like [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], etc. Or maybe [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]?
I heard it before i had read your suggestion.
Another beautiful version I’ve heard of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is Rosewyn / Roswyn.
