Does Grayson work well with Edward "Eddie" and Isaac?

This is one of the many names my husband and I are considering at this point. We love the nickname [name_u]Gray[/name_u], but we know that -son names are more popular, and it doesn’t necessarily have the best flow with [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]. However, we still haven’t axed it from the list just yet because we love the way it sounds. I’m just wondering what you guys think about [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] with [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]. Does it stand out too much?

Thank you for your opinions!

It does stand out, yes, but I don’t think it’s unusable if it’s the only name that you and your husband love.

I agree. It stands out, but more in a “huh, wonder what made them choose that” way than in a “WHAT WERE THEY THINKING???” way.

I guess it doesnt quite fit with siblings names, but like others have said. Its not unusable at all. If you both love it, it will eventually become the perfect sibset for you

Is it the first name that comes to mind for your sibset? No. I’m not completely thrown off by it either. I would maybe wonder why your boys had differently styled names, but it’s it. I don’t think it’s different enough to be unusable.

I think [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] is very different from the classic firsts of [name_m]Edward[/name_m] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]. What about using [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and then [name_u]Gray[/name_u] as a nn?

I do find the difference to be pretty striking; [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] in particular sounds very different to [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] and [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] which are in themselves from different schools of names. Not always a bad thing as others have said. But does not create much flow or consistency in the sibling names, you just have to decide if that is of much importance for you. But I understand about loving the name [name_u]Gray[/name_u]. Thought pp’s idea of [name_u]Gray[/name_u] as mm for [name_m]Graham[/name_m], or Grae for [name_m]Graeme[/name_m] was good.

I agree with everyone else, it has a completely different feel to me, but if that’s the only name you both can agree on use it! I do love [name_m]Graham[/name_m] however!

I think it’s totally usable. You could also just name him [name_u]Gray[/name_u]/[name_u]Grey[/name_u].

[name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], and [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] sound good I think.
[name_m]Eddie[/name_m], [name_m]Ike[/name_m], and [name_u]Gray[/name_u]

I agree with all the posters who have said that [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] doesn’t really fit in with [name_m]Edward[/name_m] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]–it’s a modern surname name rather than an old-fashioned one. If it’s a name you love, though, why not? If you want to keep the name but want something that matches more with [name_m]Edward[/name_m] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], maybe you can have [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] as a middle name?
