Does Heidi work with Adelaide?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] could be used as a nickname for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]? I know that traditionally [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] is a nn for [name_f]Adelheid[/name_f] but I just so much prefer the look and feel of [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]! Is this too much of a stretch?
I’ve kind of fallen in love with the idea of [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] nn [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f]!

I love all four of these names individually. I personally think that [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] is too much of a stretch to be used as a nickname for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. The nickname [name_f]Addie[/name_f] might work better. [name_f]Addie[/name_f] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f] sounds so cute!

We tried to make it work for our [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] because there were too many people trying to give her a nickname and the other nn’s for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], just aren’t my cup of tea. It never stuck and nobody really understood how [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] was a nickname. She ended up staying [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], which is my preference anyway.

Thank you very much for your feedback! It’s great to hear opinions and in particular some real life experience. Thanks again, maybe it’s worth a rethink!

I think anything can work as a nickname, especially if it’s a nickname that’s only used by the parents. Other people might not understand [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] though since [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] isn’t traditionally used as a nickname in this country and it doesn’t sound much like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].
