Does honour trump? Rate these?

I would love opinions on my names! I am having a hard time on names due to some negative feedback both online and in real life. Most names in my signature have meaning some more than others but each name has a connection in my life either by its self or in variation.

So should honor overcome negative associations and feedback? Or would you change it?
I would love to have someone rate/give opinion on my girl names in my signature

ETA - Just because these have meanings I do love the actual names and sounds. I have weeded my way through various names and sounds to come out with the names that I think I would choose regardless of what I have reasoned them with but having the meaning is also important for me to actually connect with a name. I then would want my child to not be like the people or thing they are named for but make new adventures and memories.
I hope that makes sense. It is 9:30am in Australia right now and I just woke up 30 minutes ago.

What names mean to me ([name_m]Long[/name_m] part, About the names)
:female_sign:Girls”
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f] [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u].
Loved “[name_f]Lily[/name_f]” names since I was young & can not seem to take this off my list even though it is quite popular. My DF and mother love it and My family has sworn to me to not use [name_f]Lily[/name_f] names or anything that maybe similar as I have loved it for so long. [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] is for my favorite band Good cHARLOtte and also for my eldest cousin who is into motorbikes and likes the look of [name_u]Harley[/name_u] [name_m]Davidson[/name_m]'s, so kind of an honor name. [name_u]June[/name_u] is an [name_f]Honor[/name_f] name for my Grandmother. Phyillis [name_u]June[/name_u] and Grandpa who is born in [name_u]June[/name_u], It is also the month before mine a DFs birthday month. I am noticing that a certain reality TV mother is named [name_u]June[/name_u] and it is putting me off but it has soooo much meaning to me

[name_f]Elara[/name_f]/[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f].
My partner and I are gamers and the first game he remembers LOVING is Tomb Raider, SO and I wanted a [name_f]Lara[/name_f] name and these are the two we love. We like the NN [name_f]Lara[/name_f], I like the initial ‘C’ and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] also is from Dr Who which my partner introduced me to my favorite [name_m]Doctor[/name_m] (11)
So much love for [name_f]Willow[/name_f]! The Disney Movie - [name_f]Pocahontas[/name_f] - is my favorite Disney from when I was very very young. [name_f]Willow[/name_f] Tree is beautiful to draw and photograph - which I do both and it was the first thing I drew and got an A+ for. P!nks reason for choosing [name_f]Willow[/name_f]. “It’s the most flexible tree in nature and nothing can break it — no wind, no elements. It can bend and withstand anything.” [name_f]Willow[/name_f] is used as food for some Butterflies. And I love butterflies. My favorite virtue name and second favorite one syllable name is [name_f]Grace[/name_f]

[name_f]Indira[/name_f] [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u].
I have loved the nickname “[name_f]Indi[/name_f]” since I was 15/17 and the meaning of this name is beautiful. The -ra ending kind of honors a friend. [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] is my favorite water name and I want a water name as both myself and partner are Cancerians. Having a name with a strong [name_f]Lu[/name_f] sound also honors a friend I have known since I was about 7. [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] for [name_u]Harley[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] of Batman. Batman is my favourite movie series for various reasons and has been since I saw it a t 10. [name_u]Harley[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is a favorite villian of mine and my partners. And my third favourite one syllable name

[name_f]Romia[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f].
[name_f]Romia[/name_f] is my favourite way to get the NN [name_f]Mia[/name_f] and [name_f]Ro[/name_f] which has been a favourite name since I was young. My uncle has traveled almost all over the world and still goes on about [name_m]Rome[/name_m] so I thought it was a cute way to honor him and he loves it Mine and partner’s birthstone is the [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] which is red and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is my favorite red name. Also [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] Johansson is a pretty cool namesake. This is where I fall on this name [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is a ‘C’ , short syllable name which I like I would use [name_f]Eve[/name_f] but last name starts with K.

[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Eve[/name_f].
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] has the same meaning as one of my Grandfathers siblings and the ‘[name_u]Rey[/name_u]’ is for the [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars Force Awakens [name_u]Rey[/name_u] as a childhood friend whom passed recently loved the film and in particular [name_u]Rey[/name_u]. [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is for my brother, very subtle. His name is [name_m]Eduardo[/name_m]. [name_f]Eve[/name_f] is for another game my partner and I play AND I love the name [name_f]Eve[/name_f].

Boys Version - Nameberry - Welcome to the Nameberry Forums

Honestly, it’s hard to critique your names when you have so much meaning behind them, not that I wanted to rip them to shreds or anything. I already ranked your names not long ago on the Rate My Signature thread, so I’ll just give my two cents about whether or not you should keep names or let them go.

If the names are important to you, I say use them. It’s kind of like a tattoo; the meaning might not be as relevant to you as time wears on, but you got the tattoo in the first place because it reflected something important to you at the time you got it. So say in a few years you find a new favourite band, or you find a new gaming ID you prefer to use. The baby name will still reflect what was important to you at the time you had the baby. If you like the names and your partner likes the names, then I think that’s enough justification to use them. There’s a difference between honest critique of a name and how others might perceive it in contrast to just not liking the name. If other people “just don’t like it” for unspecified reasons (or for subjective reasons that aren’t applicable to you), then I wouldn’t put too much stock into those opinions. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if it can be hard to hear that someone doesn’t like your baby names, there’s always going to be someone out there that won’t like it anyway, so it’s better to choose something you yourself love. If you’re getting excessive negative feedback on one name in particular, then yes, maybe then it’s time to step back and re-evaluate whether or not it’s a good choice for a baby.

I personally think all your names sound perfectly normal and wearable for a real person, even though I’m struggling to comprehend the sheer amount of meaning you have tied to each one. Honestly though, I’d love to have a name with that much meaning behind it, so carry on

THAT analogy is just what I needed to hear! Thank you!
I found names that I like and the from there weeded the way through influences and loves of life and name sounds and meanings I like, and I came out with these. I feel pretty happy about them but the negative feedback of [name_f]Indira[/name_f] in real life and [name_u]June[/name_u] online (only due to [name_f]Honey[/name_f] [name_u]Bo[/name_u] [name_u]Bo[/name_u] or whatever) but it just made me question.

I think they are all well thought out names. I like the [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], and [name_f]Indira[/name_f] combos.

I belive that they are all beautiful names and i love the meanings behind all of them. I think you should go with whatever your heart desires. I love [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], and especially [name_u]Rey[/name_u] (due to my obsession of [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars).

As has previously been said I think all the names are reasonable and wearable. The least wearable being [name_f]Romia[/name_f] in my opinion and [name_f]Indria[/name_f] is unusual but very usable especially with the nn [name_f]Indi[/name_f] (so cute).

It is lovely that you’ve thought of so many ways to honour and remember people and parts of your life. My only query is if it is to much. This is a new human with a new personality and embarking on a new and unique journey that will bring lots of new important memories and people into your life and hers. I wonder if a name with no or less meaning and weight would be a more meaningful way to symbolise her being an individual who will make her own path in life. It could potentially feel like a burden to her to be connected to all these people and places, many of which probably won’t have anywhere near as much significance to her as they do to you and your partner. On the other hand she might love all those connections. It depends on what kind of personality she has. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought meant with all kindness

Go with what you love - there is someone out there who likes and dislikes every name.
My favourites from your names are:
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f].
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]

I love all the individual names and the meaning behind them. Personally I would play with the combos a bit to get the best flow from each name. But meaning trumps everything else imo.

The names that I like:

[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]

[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]

I believe the only negative associations that should be taken into consideration are ones the parents of the child have. No one else’s negative associations would, nor should, matter in the least. For example, yesterday (I think) I saw a thread about [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m]. The parents do not watch Game of Thrones, but heard other people have a negative association with [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] because of that show. I do not think those other people’s associations are relevant in the slightest. If the parents were fans, they would likely have the negative association and not consider the name; but that is not the case.

So if you, the child’s parents, don’t negatively associate any of the names under consideration, there is no need to be concerned with anyone else doing so - least of all strangers on the internet.

Your names are lovely, you will choose the right one when it’s time. What other people think about the meaning is irrelevant. And, quite frankly, you are under no obligation to explain your choices, nor the meaning of the name you end up choosing.

Really nothing to critique here. The names are all lovely, they’re gorgeous combos and most importantly, they have meaning.

As far as [name_u]June[/name_u]- I don’t think of Mama [name_u]June[/name_u] when I hear it. If there’s an association at all, it’s with [name_u]June[/name_u] Cleaver; a wonderful TV mother.

I like all of these name combatants the only name im not that big of a fan of for a girl is [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] however the meaning behind it and the fact it is not a first name makes me over look the little bit of dislike for the name. Over all beautiful choices. The [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Elara[/name_f]/[name_f]Clara[/name_f] combinations are my favorite. Again you cant go wrong with naming your little girl any of these names.

Your combos are perfectly fine. My favorite is [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Eve[/name_f].

Also, as far as I’m concerned, you can do pretty much anything with middle names, especially if it’s paired with a wearable first name.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] the meaning behind all of them! I think looks-wise and sound-wise, I lean toward these two:

[name_f]Lilia[/name_f] [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]

Thank you everyone!

I can’t chose which I like most, because honestly they’re all STUNNING, but here are my thoughts on each!!!

I think [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is beautiful! I have never met a [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] (but I know several little girls named [name_f]Lily[/name_f]). I adore [name_f]Harlow[/name_f], there is something beautiful, haunting, and sophisticated about the name. [name_u]June[/name_u] is totally making a comeback! I personally have both [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] on my list, but [name_u]June[/name_u] by itself is lovely. I like that it is an honor name! [name_u]June[/name_u] is lovely!!!

[name_f]Elara[/name_f]/[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is a very nice combo. I love Tomb Raider myself and totally went through a [name_f]Lara[/name_f] phase. I hadn’t every thought of using [name_f]Clara[/name_f] or [name_f]Elara[/name_f], but I absolutely love both. They have the same sound as [name_f]Lara[/name_f] but are less likely to be confused with [name_f]Lara[/name_f]/[name_f]Laura[/name_f]/[name_f]Lauren[/name_f]/[name_f]Laurel[/name_f], etc. I think I prefer [name_f]Elara[/name_f] over [name_f]Clara[/name_f] because it’s more unusual but the [name_f]Elora[/name_f]/[name_f]Willow[/name_f] connection is too much so I’d probably go with [name_f]Clara[/name_f] in this instance. I’ve always been weirdly drawn to the [name_f]Willow[/name_f] tree myself, it’s on my list as well as [name_f]Willa[/name_f] which gives off a similar vibe and has the same imagery to me. I like [name_f]Grace[/name_f] but I don’t love it (I know way too many [name_f]Grace[/name_f]/[name_f]Gracey[/name_f]/[name_f]Gracie[/name_f]/[name_m]Grayson[/name_m]’s… but it flows well and it’s one of the middle names so popularity is much less an issue.

[name_f]Indira[/name_f] [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is also very pretty. I love all the name separately but I think the flow is a little off. [name_f]Indi[/name_f] or [name_f]Indie[/name_f] is one of my favorite nicknames as well! I love [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] but [name_f]Indira[/name_f] is lovely! I also like Inara (yes, from Firefly, my favorite show in all the land) with [name_u]Day[/name_u] as a middle name so I’d use Inara [name_u]Day[/name_u] “[name_f]Indie[/name_f].” (Side note: I think Inara is a little like [name_f]Elara[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f], so that might appeal?) [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is beyond cute I love the matching “U” in each name! Both names are meaningful and pretty! I would also like [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] for the same reasons.
[name_f]Romia[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] I don’t like quite as much. [name_f]Romia[/name_f] sounds a little strange for my ear and [name_f]Mia[/name_f] is very common, however I quite like [name_f]Ro[/name_f] (and [name_u]Rue[/name_u]). I do like the [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] connection. I love [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and I’ve considered using it as a middle (because of popularity issues) but I’ve vetoed it because my brother’s name is [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]… that would be a little weird lol! [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is a beautiful name (I do like [name_f]Clara[/name_f] more).

[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]… Goodness [name_f]Freya[/name_f] has risen all the way through my list to now be in my top 5! I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it! It’s mythological, it has the new [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars heroine “[name_u]Rey[/name_u]” as a nickname (and she’s like beyond amazing, love that character). [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] I don’t love… but I like that it is an honor name. But [name_f]Eve[/name_f]… oh my goodness how I love the simplistic, sophisticated beauty of [name_f]Eve[/name_f]! It’s my #1 favorite middle name at the moment.

Thank You!

Thank You! We have similar taste!
If I could have [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f] I would as it is my 1st favourite [name_u]June[/name_u] name.
Tomb Raider is awesome! My partner wanted [name_f]Lara[/name_f] but I had the same uneasiness with the [name_f]Lara[/name_f]/[name_f]Laura[/name_f]/[name_f]Lauren[/name_f]/[name_f]Laurel[/name_f], etc so I researched and found these two. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] has the added Dr Who bonus but I love [name_f]Elara[/name_f] nn [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and that it is more unheard of.
I just found Firefly on Netflix last night (I’m from Australia so we just got Netflix last year or something) I am only up to episode 2. I like the name Inara.
At first [name_f]Romia[/name_f] sounded strange but too make sure I like a name I say it through out a day or 2 in various moods (weird I know but I want names that will last). I like [name_f]Clara[/name_f] more than [name_f]Claire[/name_f] too so if I use [name_f]Clara[/name_f] it might have to change if I have 4 daughters. I was thinking [name_f]Eve[/name_f] would join this combo in that instance but my last name starts with K. So intials would be R.S.E.K Which I am uneasy about.
I am the same with [name_f]Freya[/name_f], it was further down on my last but it has moved to number 5. I agree about [name_f]Eve[/name_f]!
