a while ago now (i think), i posted about [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] but now i wonder if [name_f]Greta[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] changes the vibe too much? [name_f]Etta[/name_f] would become a nickname for [name_f]Greta[/name_f], although i do worry it changes it to much and i’d love to get your opinion on it?
[name_f]Greta[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is a lovely name! I prefer [name_f]Greta[/name_f] over [name_f]Etta[/name_f]. [name_f]Greta[/name_f] is a sweet, distinct and beautiful vintage name that sounds modern to me.
[name_f]Greta[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is gorgeous, but I kind of don’t think that [name_f]Etta[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Greta[/name_f] makes a ton of sense. It’s kind of just a rhyming name of [name_f]Greta[/name_f]; not really a shorter version. I’d stick w/Etta [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] if you want to call her [name_f]Etta[/name_f]. Or something like [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]? Could [name_f]Estella[/name_f] nn [name_f]Etta[/name_f] work? [name_f]Estella[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is amazing! And if you wanted to call her [name_f]Greta[/name_f], name her [name_f]Greta[/name_f]. I personally love [name_f]Greta[/name_f] nn [name_f]Gerty[/name_f]! Not that that makes much sense either though
wow, i feel like this might start a debate a little bit! i’ll add a poll incase people prefer not to comment!
@MichelleM this is really interesting and now i’m wondering how you pronounce both names? haha, when i pronounce [name_f]Etta[/name_f] and [name_f]Greta[/name_f] the end of [name_f]Greta[/name_f] sounds like [name_f]Etta[/name_f]… sometimes i forget that names sound different to other people!!
I agree that [name_f]Etta[/name_f] sounds like the end of [name_f]Greta[/name_f]. I guess that it makes sense, but it just doesn’t seem natural to me personally. But I do think they’re both lovely names, so I guess if it’s a way to use both go for it.
Greta [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is so stunning!! I love [name_f]Etta[/name_f] as a nickname option too, it’s very cute!
(and definitely feels natural to me, too!)
I prefer [name_f]Etta[/name_f] in this combo. As previous posters have stated, [name_f]Greta[/name_f] is harder than [name_f]Etta[/name_f], which sounds softer with an already soft [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. I, personally, feel that [name_f]Greta[/name_f] might be a little to hard for [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], despite still being a lovely name.
They have slightly different vibes. [name_f]Greta[/name_f] is a little more rugged and strong whereas [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is sweeter yet fiery. They both feel vintage and charming.
Etta [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is my favoutite of the two. I like how it doesn’t repeat the r and g sounds of [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
To me, [name_f]Greta[/name_f] sounds a little stronger and edgier while [name_f]Etta[/name_f] sounds a little more girly and carefree. But close vibes between the two.
I much prefer [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. For me, it does change the vibe quite a lot. [name_f]Greta[/name_f] is a much harsher name.
thank you all again for your wonderful insight! the more i play around with it and say it the more i see the roughness of [name_f]Greta[/name_f] and the sweetness of [name_f]Etta[/name_f]… it’s a tough one!!
